    Hello all,

My company just added two FCP 5 systems to the edit bays here and I am wondering how best to send clips and finished composited show elements between the rooms.

Can anyone advise me on precisely what Quicktime and Compressor settings to use for Avid-to-FCP, and from FCP-to-Avid? (Most clips will average 20 seconds to 2 minutes in length. Broadcast resolution needs to be maintained [although we are presently doing everything in DV25 res].)

    Many thanks!!

Wow! Several folks have directed me to this site and I viewed it. So it’s necessary to spend $1000 for software just to sucessfully move FCP-exported Quicktimes into Avid and vice-versa??

Seeing that Avid digitizes the footage into a proprietary Avid format…yes, you do need the application for this.

One good reason not to mix NLEs.

You can export the quicktimes to your desktop and import them with FCP. It’s not the greatest solution, but it works, if you don’t need your timeline info.
