Take a look at this system for digital time-lapse systems.

It’s not really too much work to use a sequence of digital stills in a video sequence and the resolution beats anything that you’ll get with a video camera.

It obviously shouldn’t take that long. The only time that I’ve encountered such a slowdown was when I used a USB 1 slot on my G4, but the macbookpro has 3 USB2 slots so that’s not the case here. Do you have the P2 driver software loaded on the macbook? the AJ-PCD20 also has a firewire port, have you tried that?

I found this to be the case when using my g4 desktop. It turns out that the desktop only has USB 1, noy USB 2 which is much faster. When I plug it into my 12″ powerbook it transfers about 1g per minute. Try transferring it on a powerbook to an external drive.

also, in addition to switching modes (which will not delete any files ) make sure that there is something on the p2 store,it won’t see it if there is nothing to read.

  • the P2 store won’t show up if there is no footage on it – try dumping some footage then pluging it in.

  • Roddy,
I had the same problem on my G4dual1.25 tower, it was the fact that the older macs are not USB 2 but usb1.
I now run my transfers through a 12″ powerbook to a firewire extermal drive.
    Hope this helps,
    Shane..
