I would have loved to have seen a reply to this, I’m about to make a decision between a HA and an XA (Panasonic version of the ZA)

That’s one very strong review! I remember seeing that option when I bought my 25L (which I haven’t been very happy with). At the time I noticed it only has (2) stages versus the 3 stages most tripods have. The 35L model I’ve read goes from 26″-62″ (which is comparable to the 30L, although the 30L goes down to 22″), but what I thought was the bigger issue is that the 35L’s collapsed length is 36.5″ and the 30L is 29.5″.

Maybe that’s nit-picking, at the time I didn’t realize it had this quick deploy capability. I was concerned it wouldn’t fit in my cases. Too bad there’s no version like it coming out today. I’m not sure I want to buy an old set that has a lot of wear on it. I need something new.

thanks, any legs in particular you like most? I do like the idea of quick deploy so long as it doesn’t break down any faster

  • thanks for the recommendation!

  • I love his engineering and dedication to this project. Unfortunately without the optics to adjust for the fact these ENG lenses were designed for CCD cameras with a prism, I do not see the benefit of using these lenses with a CMOS camera. The image quality won’t be worth it.

Very helpful, thank you. And, by the way, for crude that is an incredible drawing! Very good!

Good advice. Correct me if I’m wrong, but with my limited experience in wiring I believe the check to make sure it’s series would be if it lights up or not when one device is switched off. If one is off all will be off in series, but in parallel one would still be able to light up. Electric 101 I’m sure, but I never was a source of knowledge in this department.

    Great!

Would I treat 220 and 230 just like 240 with this work around?

Anyone have advice or suggestions for 100v solutions?

Well, I certainly didn’t think of this solution! (EDIT: I just realized this doesn’t answer all my transformer needs. What about 100v, 230v, 240v…..)

Not having much electric experience i’d love it if you can point me in a direction so I don’t screw this up! (I.e. More details for wiring. :).

Could I have a Diva light (220w) plugged in one end and an iphone charger the other (in the instance I only need one plug)?

I would also love to hear some first hand experience about why transformers are not ideal. One would assume they are the most common guaranteed solution!

You’ve come to my rescue before, thank you very much! (Btw, I’m bringing your lens, got anything else up for sale?)

  • Bill,

this thread is years old but I can’t help but find a better example of why things are so confusing with this awful program. Please allow me to use your response as an example.

FCP X puts assets in some very specific places so that all the elements in the database can find them when they need to.

That “Thumbnails” file is NOT trivial to FCP-X.

All this is fine and dandy, but how about Apple TELLING US what is important so we know what we should not be messing with!

Bottom line, FCP-X is NOT like FCP-Legacy. Until you understand how it works, it’s best to leave things in the places where the program puts them.

Again, fine and dandy, but why isn’t there a simple written explanation TELLING US how it works so we know what the heck we’re doing!?!?!?! The manual simply does not go over these basic explanations
