  • Fuji XA or ZA lens?

Posted by Phil Yunker on June 15, 2011 at 1:42 am

I have been looking at lenses lately, mostly at the Fujinon line of lenses.
I know that that Fuji has basically three lines of lenses, the HA, ZA and XA.
The HA are higher end and I have been told that the ZA’s are the same lenses as the HA except that the ZA’s do not get a final “tweak” or “look over” at the factory while the ZA’s go right off the line and into the box.
I was also told that the XA’s are the same as the ZA’s yet are just lenses “bundled” with Panasonic P2 Cameras.
Can anyone out there confirm this or have any experience comparing the ZA lenses to the XA lenses and the picture / image quality from one to the other. Who is using which line of lenses on which cameras out there?

    Thanks.

    PHIL

I would have loved to have seen a reply to this, I’m about to make a decision between a HA and an XA (Panasonic version of the ZA)

    Seth,
I ended up with a Fuji ZA lens, don’t remember what model it was as I have since sold the lens and the P2 VariCam for “better” lenses and cameras. I never had a problem with the ZA lens and used it with HA and even SD lenses and never noticed a difference, even with the SD lens.
Your decision might depend on the camera you are using it on on cameras you will use it on in the future and if you have clients that request a certain lens package.
