i don’t know exactly what you mean, try exporting a master in prores and compress then.
adobe does have a blocking problem and some formats are pure ugliness – try handbrake instead or apple’s native h264 (export via quicktime for free or compressor if you have it)

    have you tried this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwjLuUR51gE
also: you should use video levels (most formats use it and if you override more shifts are likely to happen)
resolve changed the underlying engine and now works better with apple’s colorsync.
also: the viewer in resolve never shows the accuracy what an output via decklink would. sadly but that’s how they get you to spend money ☺ also, most formats are also rec709 gamma 2.4 – you should use resolve’s standard project settings about color which uses this automatically and compensates for your 2.2 system.

  • your problem is colorsync in apple’s retina p3 displays: i made a video about it (AND THE SIMPLE SOLUTION!), you can also read up on the details on my website (all in the description of the video): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YwjLuUR51gE

friends, i still have it on my canon and uploaded it. get it from:

    https://sebastianleitner.com/cinestyle.zip

  • shoot in 24, the easiest to conform to anything you need. if you need slow motion, record in 60 since 60 to 24 is the mathematically best algorithm. for web fps does not matter but anything else than 24, 30 or 60 would judder a little. international cinema is 24 and bluray is usually 23,98 world wide.

no, warranty is not an issue anymore because you side load ML now and not overwrite anything. it lives on the SD card, when removed, camera boots into standard firmware. yes, best firmware for the mk3 is 1.2.3 – the last one to support side loading.

actually get the latest experimental build which will enable 4K crop mode, so you can record (even in h264) in 1:1 sensor read-out (better details but crop factor of 3). so that would turn your 70mm lens into a 200mm tele one.

no, the mk3 is too old for that!

you can, however, if you install “magic lantern” focus with the little jog wheel (controls motors) and set certain focus points where the servos would go to with the press of a button.

but no, no automatic focus! you would need a newer model.

you can get something like “juicedlink” or “tascam dr70” to mount under the camera! yes, DSLR-preamps and connections are very bad, also the internal gain is noisy.

February 3, 2019 at 12:40 pm in reply to: When to color grade in Magic Lantern RAW workflow?

don’t use rawmagic. use the free “MLV app” which is basically lightroom für ML RAW! it’s outstanding, it even reads the dual-iso and HDR recordings and outputs them correctly. you can change all RAW settings and export in prores or similar. much better than rawmagic ☺

yo you can already base-grade your footage there (or not), fix issues or stitch the dual-iso video together to get full 14 stops of dynamic range. ARRI only records in 13, so: yeah!

  • definitely try a factory reset and re-install firmware. that should fix it!
magic lantern or not, there is something broken.
