ok perfect, now it worked. It had problems of the server only showing as a server and not the exact folder name.

Maybe it also worked cose i just upgraded to 8.1.1 😉 Either way thanks a lot Sascha!!

Have a nice weekend soon 🙂

    Thanks Sascha,

But thats what I already tried and didnt work so far…I just selected all of them in the media pool and changed the parent directory, I told it where to look for them but i still cant see anything in the color tab…all the files are “black” or empty…

    Any other idea?

November 16, 2011 at 2:08 pm in reply to: Trying to achieve “The Rum Diary” Grading

Here is a Jpeg frame of the image im using to try to achieve the Rum Diary look, I wanted to upload a Tiff but its too heavy for imageshack…

This is the RedlogFilm without any correction to it:
    https://img205.imageshack.us/img205/8599/redlogfilm.jpg

And this is my try to get as close as possible to the Rum diary look (not quite there yet):
    https://img824.imageshack.us/img824/3682/corrected.jpg

If you could help me out would be great.
This are the steps im doing so far:
I start to push a little bit the contrast, pushing the lift a bit down, while trying to maintaing the highlights at around 640IRE.
Desaturating most of the parts except for humans. Desaturating skin colors and then adding some orange (HSL key). It doesnt look bad, but im missing something big. its not quite there yet.

Like with the skin tones, i cant get to “match” them with rums diary (i mean similar color not exact the same, but as soon as i push towards orange they tend to exagerate.)

If someone could help me that would be amazing.

    Thanks a lot.
    Sebastian

    Hi Dan,

Thanks for your reply. Thats exactly what i ve been doing so far. Gamma2 and redlog film…then image as reference and tried to match the feeling.
Its kind of hard though. One of the “hardest” things is to match the face colors they have, is pretty reddish/orangish…

if anyone else has another tipp im open to it…

  • that worked finally!! thanks a lot!

Hi Thanks for your reply, but the problem is i cant find any Blackmagic setting for going to my monitor.
Do i need to install something special? i looked on the blackmagic support page but couldnt find anything special.

On my davinci system and fcp it works flawlessly. Any ideas?

    thanks a lot!

    Hi Kevin,

That’s exactly what I did but it never fitted into monitoring. I have Macbook Two 2.93Ghz 6-Core Intel Xeon, Blackmagic ExtremeHD3+, ATTI Radeon 5770, Nvidia Quadro. so from the specs of my maschine it works ok with 4K and so on, but it just wont fit 4K into 1080p for being able to grade in 4K but see the output in 1080p monitor.
    Its a bit strange.
Any other idea or solution maybe?

    thanks

April 1, 2011 at 8:44 am in reply to: Poll… How many crashes per day?

So I guess Im the only one having lots of crushes.
I had an 5D project converted to AppleProRes422 (HQ) and everytime while keyframing it crashed after a couple of frames, so I had so save it manually almost after every frame to be sure i dont loose any work.

It took me around 1.5h to keyframe a 5sec scene only because of the crashing, that was pretty annoying.

The people at Blackmagic told me to try it again but with DPX instead of APR422, but didnt have the time to do it yet.
But whit R3D I never had any big issues or crash so far, and I worked with lots of nodes.

    Cheers
