I was seeing it in NTSC and 1080i60. I did not try PAL. I don’t think format matters though, this seems to be some sort of issue with 8-bit video output and the RED features added in the newest firmware.

They had me downgrade to the old 32-bit DMA firmware and the problem went away. Not sure what new problems this may cause though.

Thanks. I sent them an email. To amend the original post, I’m also seeing the problem with AJA TV, so it doesn’t seem to be a Final Cut related issue.

Troubleshooting it now and I’ve pinned down what causes it. Posting this in the AJA forum.

I switch to 10-bit and everything works great. Not sure what the problem is.

They’re both imperfect. Right now for example I can’t output 8-bit video on my Kona 3. I get a bunch of white sparkles. I’m assuming that Quicktime 7.6 broke it (I had to do a fresh install otherwise I wouldn’t have not updated QT).

Also have a Multibridge HD here and the power supply died inexplicably. I have to track down a new one from Taiwan.

Yes it can, so can the Blackmagic cards. It’s a pain though because you need to identify the AA frame in the control panel. I find it much easier to capture at 29.97 and then use Cinema Tools to remove pulldown.

You need to make sure secondary output is selected for “SDI Output 2”. It’s under “Digital Out” in the AJA Control Panel.

I believe you can also just change you Easy Setup and video playback to 1080i and it will work fine. You actually need to do this anyways if you want to downconvert to NTSC.

I do it all the time. Let the Kona do the work.

So if you created a software raid with Apple DIsk Utility and then swapped the array with no problems to a 3rd party mfg hardware raid?”

You should still be able to do that. Most hardware RAID cards can work in “single disk mode” or “JBOD Mode” which is like mounting it on a non-hardware RAID card. All the formatting (like a software RAID) should still show up.
