I am on 6.0.2, but the real puzzler to me is that the multiclip in the timeline will play all the angles and in-sync…SO it must be connected in order to do that, BUT when I want to adjust or change an angle its out of sync or not even there!! (I am talking about the local computer&drive)
The current work around is to edit the thing through the network (and get those pesky dropped frame warnings) then copy the project to the local computer and reconnect to local drives for speedy playback and finishing.
Thanks All,
Sean

No, the media is on both the network and a local scratch drive. That is why I am so puzzled. I reconnect the media to the project from the local drive and it will play fine, but when I try to tweak the cuts…no go its out o sync or not even showing up in the viewer (even though it is there in the timeline)??!! How can it be in-sync on timeline playback but out of sync when a new angle is desired?

Actually , I am opening a project from a networked computer, but saving the project to a local drive and editing from a local drive. It will play and seems fine, but cannot be tweaked.
It is only functioning properly when edited through the network.

I think so. There is a lightning, but it is not adjustable and has a cloud. I was looking to make an electrical arc between two points. Haven’t seen it.
Thanks,

November 10, 2006 at 6:34 pm in reply to: Video is shifting (horizontally) & quickly then FCP quits or beachballs foreverI did as you said, and the Atto guy talked and talked to me. He was very helpful, but I had everything in place as he thought it should be.
I am going to install the OS and Apps on another disk. Start up and run FCP from there. Maybe my drive is got some hidden crazy crap. (SHCC)

November 10, 2006 at 4:24 pm in reply to: Video is shifting (horizontally) & quickly then FCP quits or beachballs foreverAtto it is. I feel stuck in the middle of a bad dream. The system was quitting when I was rendering a QT movie from Motion. So, I tried to open the Motion file directly in FCP then render…immediate crash.
Where do I begin? I have 58 hours into the work of trying to fix this problem (so far) just so I can work on a paying gig.

October 31, 2006 at 5:44 pm in reply to: Have I tried everything?! FCP keeps on going to the beachball…forever. The card is the KONA SD (not the KONA2 or 3) and Blackmagic Decklink drivers are written for the KONA SD. BMD is the company that originally wrote drivers for AJA. AJA only offered, in the past, to upgrade the KONA SD to a new AJA card KONA HD for $1500 with trade-in. I didn’t think that was much of an offer considering the KONA SD sold for $2400. BMD is the only company that writes drivers for KONA SD. AJA sold the card then dropped support similar to the way you would a hot potatoe.
The drivers have worked in the past and are working today. I am having an outout problem though, the hard drive seems to be stressed after communicating for very long on big files. It will just stop. or maybe the beachball spins first. I don’t know if the brake down is from the FCP side or the Medea side. Small stuff seems to not be an issue. Under 10Gigs.
Are there any other suggestions?
Thanks

I am not here to go down that particular road, and that is not the problem. Any other suggestions?

Maybe this isn’t the right time or place, but here we go. First, thanks again Luke, & BM, for the support of a 4 year old product. BUT to rant.. It is amazing, but when I posted a problem on other CC forums, I barely got any feedback ( on some forums no feedback). Was the problem not valid? or was it that no one was interested in posting to a problem on a 4 year old system? “That is old news man, why doesn’t he get a new machine?” It seems like we are to quick to disregard systems, to quick to accept a very fast death rate. Were the drivers for the KONA SD really forgotten? I don’t know. I do know that I will not buy from certain companies, no matter how good of a product they have, because they cheated me in the past. I am very aware of company integrity & have a long memory …someone said to me “I feel like you are putting a lot of trust in a legacy product (G4 & KONA SD)…I know that I wouldn’t be comfortable doing that.” I thought to myself first, this guy doesn’t have his own business- he doesn’t actually write the check. then I thought…10-bit uncompressed, $18000 just 4 years ago, 2 kids, a small market (# 93), and etc… Heck, I am not comfortable with it, but I am tired of always spending money! Especially, when 90% of what I do goes out on an 8-bit Beta SP tape. And yes, I shoot film and HD too. It still goes out on beta or digi-beta. KONA SD & G4’s still do what they first did…Please don’t forget them.
Sincerely
