I think it was a bad file. I re-captured the video out of the suspect area and that seemed to fix it.

    Many thanks for your replys.

I think the problem was a bad file. I re-captured video in the suspect portion of the show. No more freezing of FCP and no more dropped frames.

    Thanks for the support.

    Thanks for the reply.

Actually, I broke the timeline into 3 smaller parts and successfully exported each part. I then trashed my FCP prefferences then assembled the parts back together in a new project. I was able to record from this timeline to a tape. However, when I tried to export them as one QT, to make a DVD, the system froze again. So, what now? is there any way to export the whole thing as one file or am I just stuck with 3 smaller files?

Thanks Luke. I truly appreciate the effort that Blackmagic has made in regards to supporting the Kona SD card. That appreciation will reflect in my next purchase. However, I intend on getting, milking, grinding every last gettable penny out of my “it doesn’t seem that old” investment.

So, to the engineering, please keep supporting the Kona SD with your drivers- it is still out there and being used every day for producing the quality infomercials that everyone loves and enjoys : )

    Thanks again,

The sequence setting is Blackmagic YUV 8-bit, the RAID array is a SCSI Medea 320 w/160Gigs free, Mac G4 w/dual 1.42 and 2Gigs ram.

  • Thanks for the suggestion.

I did have a sequence inside the sequence. As a hunch, I removed the sequence and replaced it a copy of all the files in the sequence. After doing that, FCP finally worked through a complete QT export (without lockup) which I used to created a new sequence, and laid to BetaSP. Whew!

The only problem is, that before and not that long ago, I could do a render and mixdown-only render, then lay to tape no problem. It seems like now, I always have to make a QT then lay to tape. Is that normal? Any suggestion would be appreciated.

    Thanks again.
