Steve,
Sorry your having trouble, if you haven’t already…try setting dr60 to “video” and FCP to “capture now”
your footage may all be there. The “log and transfer” seems to have trouble mostly. Some times, I have actually had material on tape that wasn’t on the DR60, but most of the time the footage is there, but FCP’s log and transfer doesn’t like the DR60…you’ll get an idle drive error.
(I am currently trying a cache off experiment and see if it causes the drive to go idle)
Hope this may help.

I have a system similar to yours, and I too have experienced a sync issue, but after the fact. It will go 7 frames out for no apparent reason. I just finished a spot. All was fine. I went to make a QT for the web then FCP and the QT are out of sync 7 frames. I trash the prefs and still get the same out of syncness. Luckily, I have already gotten the spot out the door (in-sync). If I open FCP again, it will likely fix itself. That is the way it has been with the new 8-core since I got it.

Jasper,
Thanks for the advice.
Even though the current work around is to edit the thing through the network (and get those pesky dropped frame warnings) then copy the project to the local computer and reconnect to local drives for speedy playback and finishing. There are still issues with finishing.
GUESS WHAT?? It still gets out of sync sometimes and then sometimes magically fixes itself if you simply try again. I made six beta SP attempts today. One did work.
FCP crashes when you try to render or export long multiclips as well. So I have to render little bits at a time.
You would think a MAC with 8 processors and the newest FCP could….but for now they just can’t cut it!!
Apple please do SOMETHING!! and make Compressor faster while your at it. My MAC PRO is slow there as well. ( Try Compressing a 30 minute HDV show to a DVD. )

I’ll try some new media. Currently, it is rendering short pieces. I will try the new media when I get to the short piece that crashes it. As I have hours of captured media for the show.
Thanks you for the reply.
