    Thanks Shane,
I just tried Nattress. It gave me a much smoother framerate conversion, but I found that FCP scaled it up better. Perhaps I need to tweak conversion settings?
In terms of the 24 to 25, I would suspect the same scaling results when I hit FCP but as you mentioned there is a slight speed change. How far along would I notice audio drift if any by using Cinema Tools?

Please excuse the mess, I’m just the guy trying to make it all work.

We have already produced 3 projects using this 1080i template that contains dropzones for 720 content and now we have a 4th project for the UK.

The footage was shot 720p/50 (client is still discussing whether or not we output from FCP at 50 or 25, the look has not been defined yet.)

The final output most likely will be PAL DVD due to viewing constraints. Sound will be added in FCP, music only.

Can I easily change my main render comp to from 29.97 to 25, then change my subcomps (dropzones) to 25 and drop the main render comp into a PAL SD comp for final render?

I’ll say it for you, AARRRGGGHHHHH!

    Thanks

Okay am I missing something? Is it really that easy to conform a 720p project or a 1080 project for that matter to any frame rate?

So close to putting this thread to rest.

I have 2 quotes one for a 4TB Dulce ProDQ and one for the 4TB MaxxEvo 2k Expando. In terms of expandability, why is the Evo soo much cheaper than the Dulce system where I would have to buy a ProEX (their expansion box) and buy another RAID array as opposed to simply buying a second Evo array and daisy-chain it? I realize the guts for port multipling are inside the EVO, but comparing the 2 solutions doesn’t seem fair.

    Caught fire!?!
Bob and Jordan stop, you guys are killing me!
I like the Maxx Digital/Final Share option, can anyone comment on Studio Network Solution’s product EVO?
ISCSI is interesting, shared storage definately!

Hey Bob thanks for the morning chuckle.
Unfortunatley we relied upon our “vendor” at the time to make this decision (don’t get me started).
And you, you crazy haired video engineer 😉 the Cow IS the first place I go for insight. Power of the people! I have been reading Biscardi’s low buck SAN article over and over and hey if it works in broadcast then it can work in corporate.
Money is always the issue, but thanks to you I have a bit more ammo and will go back to my manager and fire both barrels!

    Thanks Jordan.
Even though I performed a bad sector test, drive #3 is rebuilding again!
I second your “stay away from Frys”.

Would you suggest drive replacement or total unit replacement?
Frankly I have never been happy with their products, this is the second Lacie box to expire on me.
    Thanks again

Nope just sitting in the rack. Funny thing it seems to be working again.
    thanks

  • I think I found out my problem. By changing the SD field dominance from lower to none my jaggies went away. Would this affect any other footage? I noticed these jaggies in both my cinema display and crt, but now they are crisp.
    Thanks

The problem I am running into is that clip A needs to keep playing as the element wipes across it revealing clip B which is also running. Almost like I need a mask to cover up clip A and reveal clip B. Does that make sense?
    I know alpha channel.
    Thanks
