  • Hi

I’ve run into a what sounds like a similar problem. Our workflow/workaround (we’re on MC 4) is to copy all of the cards to an external drive, putting each card’s contents into a folder that essentially is out tape. This is done in the field. Then I mount everything into one bin via ama, which seems to fill in the spanned clips. Every now and then we’ve come across some spanned clips that still didn’t load fully, but it’s worked 99% of the time so far. Then, if you want to sort the footage by the folder, you can sift through the Drive column.

Of course you can also tell the DP to not shoot with spanned clips as well 😉

    Hope this helps.

Thanks for your help! I had a feeling that was the case. I wonder if they’ll fix that in the future, or maybe do something closer to how FCP handles titles so that a new piece of media doesn’t have to be created every single time.

    Hi

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately, that has not been happening when I go in to modify the title. I’ll set it to save into a “titles” bin when I first create it, but when I go in to modify it again, the new title saves in the bin with the open sequence. I’ve checked to make sure that the “titles” bin is open, but it still won’t save modifications there.

Additionally, these are not titles like lower 3rds or scrolling credit roll, but rather cards like you see in a trailer, which these are. I often have to build each word as it’s own separate element so that I can work with it individually and over time. As a result, there are a lot of titles and it gets messy pretty quickly.

Can marquee do animate each element separately? I’ve avoided marquee since no editor uses it or is even that familiar with it where I work and I often pass these off to an editor to make final tweaks/adjustments.

    Thank you!

    Hi

I unfortunately have no actual solution/advice for this besides maybe trying it in motion just to get the key done, but I’ve had a very similar rendering problem using the limiter with both the 2-way and 3-way Color Corrector (I ended up having to use Color). Here is a link to my post:

    https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/8/1131178

The only thing I got was that it might have been a coding issue, but nothing on how to fix it.

Anyway, I wanted to get in on this thread in case there is a solution since it sounds like the same problem only with a different filter.

    Thanks

Again I’m not being clear. When I say doing an HSL Key, I mean using the limiter effect with the color corrector 3-way, not an actual keying out of the shot. As far as I can tell though, it only happens on the color corrector 3-way, and then only when I’m using the limiter, and only on certain shots, although I cannot figure out why those shots and not others. I tried it with the 2-Way Color Corrector last night as well, but had the same problem. It’s probably the same type of problem that you were describing though. Is there anything else you recommend? I’d prefer to stay in Final Cut since I’m already a decent way through the film and it needs to be done by Saturday evening, plus I am not too familiar with Color at the moment. I’ve heard of Colorista though I don’t know much about it. Could that be a solution?

Here is another shot that it is happening on:

    Canvas

    Frame Viewer

NOTE: The frame viewer is split into both the frame with the filters (the left side) and without the filters (the right side). Again, I made the correction extreme to illustrate clearly what is going on.

    Thank you

Not on that shot/correction. With all of the other shots I see it though.

Sorry for the confusion. It’s a tough thing to describe. So the frame viewer allows you to see a sort of split screen comparison of the frame with and without filters (kind of like the preview monitor in compressor). I have it so that the frame viewer in that still is only showing the clip with the filters, hence the ridiculously green sky (also the green squares in the corner mean that it’s the current frame with filters). The image in the canvas that I uploaded is of the same frame with the same filter activated. Both in theory should be showing the same exact image (with the ugly green sky). Hope that’s clearer.

Just some additional info, it only seems to be happening on that shot so far. There are no other filters on it and it matches the sequence settings, so I can’t see anything inherently different with it.

    Thanks

Not the viewer…the frame viewer. The other tab paired with the video scopes.

Thanks! I had tried that but still had the problem.
