Do yourself a favor and start with a fresh HD. Either buy a new one, or format yours. The Dig/Reb uninstall might have been the way to go before you did the ‘upgrade’, but your system disc is probably corrupt now.

I wish I had a dollar for every post from someone that didn’t do a clean install, and their system is now broken.
A 5 second search on this forum would yield the proper way to do this, and the pitfalls of those that have not done their homework.
I just tried the term ‘clean install’, and got 1077 hits. ‘Upgrade’ got over 7000.

I agree with Shane.
This is not a cheap business, unless your doing it for a hobby and maybe not even then.
If your having money issues at the software level, I think things will just go downhill from there. You don’t have your Mac yet, and your talking about getting MBP in the future, so there is that. And if you are going to do much work, your going to need more drive space, which is more money.I know a lot of guys on here use a MBP as their main machine, but IMHO this is a poor choice. MBP is a great second machine to support a proper workstation, but from an upgrade, speed and professional presentation standpoint, I think you will always be running second to others that have a workstation, or both.
The other thing I don’t understand is if you are a ‘one man band’, and are operating a production company, how are you in a position to get an ‘educators discount’? I don’t believe that is the intended purpose of the education rate.

Yes, your right! I made a presumption that (using Cinema display) is what was going on here. MXO2 has a blue only, that might work. Might not be as good as a calibrated monitor, but better than nothing.Scott Sheriff

SL requires an Intel machine, so a G machine won’t work.

Run disc permissions after an update. It can’t hurt, and sometimes it helps.
Also, trash your preferences.As far as clean install. Some folks have done the upgrade over existing thing and it worked OK, but there are a lot more that it didn’t go well for. When they wiped the drive and just installed the new ver. on fresh drive the problems went away.
Its a lot of work to do a ‘clean install’, but in the end it saves a lot of time and frustration. It also eliminates a variable when your are having a problem.Scott Sheriff

Is that based on actual experience, or repeating what others have said?
After looking at what other SL bashers have said, it comes down to a few basics.
1. People didn’t do a clean install-despite what Apple says, with Pro aps a clean install is the secret.
2. Lack of QT7-Misinformation, QT7 is in fact on the SL install disc, it’s just an option you have to choose.
3. Loss of functionality with some 3rd party devices and plugins-This is true. Some things are not 64 bit compatible, and will never be. You have to decide if keeping some legacy device, is more important than moving into the future.
4. Must have Intel based Mac-This is also true. Non-Intel Macs are boat anchors. Or will be shortly. They should be donated to a school, or used for an audio server, or some other non-critical ap. How long do you expect Apple to keep supporting old systems?

Did you do a clean install. of just do an upgrade?
1. Back up plug-ins, and downloaded aps and data.
2. Wipe your system drive.
3. Install SL
4. Install FCS
5. Check for, and install updates.
6. Re-install aps, plug-ins, data
7. Update drivers as needed.I have been running SL w/FCS2 since SL was released, and it has been working great. Apple says you can just do an upgrade, but it just ain’t so. Search term ‘clean install’ in this forum.
