nope.. no answer… itunes advanced has a “convert to ipad’ command…. but it stripped the video and converted the audio… lol…. it got even weirder here.. through home sharing… my itunes library show up and it SHOWS the file i cant import ONTO the ipad… it plays it… kinda choppy… which with proper compression should not happen… Dave… the ipad is like a computer display… aspect ratios dont really matter when creating original content specifically FOR that screen… its like making a file exactly the size of your 30 inch monitor.. there is no broadcast equivalent to THAT resolution… but you can still make a movie that size… now im not trying to do something close to that large of course, just taking my widescreen animation and adding some content below it to fill out the screen… “MAYBE” i just have to make it a 720p file and let the tablet “snap” it into shape, but I was trained to make imagery at the perfect resolution whenever possible… dont let a device interpolate it for you if you can avoid it… now im being really picky here… and not many would notice the slight quality difference… but still…. im stumped and as usual, im trying to do something no one else on the planet has attempted… that is soooooo me…. lol

this is not a broadcast issue… im well aware of all the trditional resolutions for broadcast…

there are devices, scoreboards and all kinds of things we create animation for… I am creating a comp in after effects that is exactly the same size as the ipad2 resolution.

I may have found the issue…

AE has some settings to remove unused footage and some other options. I paired down a huge file recently and used those tools and it took me a bit to get it right, but I was able to remove the redundant files…

thats what I thought Dave… just wanted to see if i was missing anything with AE5….

someone offered me that 4800 card for some work…. but I read it was not very good except on a couple of my plug ins… the Cuda enabled ones… that cared sells for$1800!!

Do you get general ‘snappiness’ in desktop performance and any quicktime playback improvements would be my last curiosity… but may be better asked in another forum…

    thanks..

did I hear you right Alan.. a v4 is the last planned release? I hope Genarts did not buy into you, or buy you out to discontinue you….

I own well over 2000 dollars in genarts products already… but would be pretty upstet if they just wasted this great software tool…

April 20, 2011 at 5:50 am in reply to: cant seem to solve this issue

this is just too “serious” for me to not feel confident about… especially given that I am going to be getting back into production work again very soon.

That said… I have found a way to migrate fully to a 64 bit system and all my plug ins etc etc….

I need to do it anyway… and thanks to some financial help… I can do it now… this should eliminate the

performance issues i have been having…. a bug here a bug there… I can deal with and trouble shoot. This render delay issue just freaked me out… and resolutions and layers are not getting any smaller or less complex.

thanks again Dave and more for the help…. ive got a LOT of stuff to upgrade over the week to come…

I upgraded to 9.0.3 my comp is now ridiculously simple… 11 layers… all quicktime uncompressed movies. a couple feathered masks and no plug ins used at all… I got it to render after 23 minutes… it rendered my comp which took all of 3 minutes. So 25 minutes total…

at least it did it this time. It also once in a while spins the beachball… then as I click around the screen I click back on the AE interface… and it does NOT select ae at all… it wont let me select ae and is essentially unresponsive… Im torn between AE and the system…. if its an issue.

the fact that ram previews seem to be fine is telling… then simply going to the ‘formal’ rendering dialogue I get output inconsistencies or straight out unresponsive zombie application…

I need to start calling on clients heavily in the next 3-4 weeks… so i need to resolve this badly… I cant drop the ball on a client project… thank goodness this is personal for my reel….

continue to take advice…. re installing the software could be my nightmare of nightmares due to the huge plug in groups I have… each one having its own unique id # or codes…. uugghhh…

    thanks… Scott
