Craig,
thanks for the info. Once upon a time I was told that PNG was a good lossless codec for keeping a master copy of my video in (before I compressed it)… clearly not the case 🙂 I’ll tryout your suggestions.
Sounds like I should probably stick with Squeeze then… though I’m still trying to figure out what Silverlight requires.
Any thought on Microsoft Expression Encoder? I had never heard of it until I saw Ben Waggoner’s post about it.
Thanks again, Craig.
Cheers,
sm

June 11, 2007 at 8:18 pm in reply to: tape swapping between cameras for capturing — dropping framesbrian,
thanks for the advice… I made my camera a “non-controllable device” and tried useing the “capture now” feature in FCP but I still ran into the same dropped frames issue. I skipped around to a couple of different points on the tape and tried “capture now” from those points, yet I still got the same result. The amount I was able to capture before a frame was dropped ranged between 10 and 45 seconds.
any other thoughts?

Thanks, David. I’m just doing re-edits then sending it back to DVD so it sounds like ripping it to DV is my best bet.

Here is the quick and dirty version: https://www.urchinmultimedia.com/cell2
I think with a little smoothing out it’ll work very well.
I’d send the .aep but I’m using AE7 for this one.
Thanks again.

yikesmikes,
That Dan Ebberts expression with CC Bender gives the exact look that I’m trying to get (the decay variable is a great option in that expression)… plus the turbulent displacement smooths out that transition into the cc Bender. I love it… thanks for the suggestions. Now it’s a matter of me trying to get my mask layers in order and “matching the cell wall” as per your last post. Thanks for all of the help… it’s a pretty subtle animation that really sells that cell motion.
