Hi Shawn, I had this same issue and it seems that the only codec that works is the Calibrated one. With that said, I found a way around this although the clips did lose quality slightly. Use a video converter – I tried using some of the one’s aimed at the prosumer range such as MpegStreamClip but unfortunately you have to have the XDCAM EX Codec installed! So I downloaded a standard converter and it seemed to work fine. Try this – the audio quality will be lost so I recommend that you sync up the XDCAM footage (the audio still shows on the timeline) with the newly converted clips and it should be alright. Hi Roger, No it depends on what project I’m working on – sometimes it’s Canon 600d (T3i) footage and other times it’s footage that’s already been provided in various formats, but I haven’t worked with GoPro footage before but instead use their Cineform codec to transcode other media to .avi. I’m working on Pro 12 at the moment and I’m virtually always on preview (auto) or even draft for some projects still with consistent preview lag! Have you had similar issues? Cheers

Hi Graham, thanks for your reply. Yes, I have all of my programs installed on this drive along with my media. Would it be a better option to invest in an SSD primarily for he programs an use the 2TB drive just for the media? Thanks

Hi Steve, you are right with this but I am literally adding one effect to a clip and the framerate drops completely. I started working with the NewBlue Titler Pro plugin and the preview window is literally showing freeze-frames – 1 every few seconds, which makes editing very hard. I’m constantly having to pre-render parts of the timeline to see an edit which completely slows down my workflow. Is my PC at a high enough spec? Or is this a Vegas problem? Cheers

Hi Lukas, for video settings I would render in .MP4 (scroll down in the render box to MainConcept AVC/AAC and select Internet 1080 and click customize template) check 1920×1080, Keep the audio sample rate at 96,000hz and 320,000bps. As you have an Nvidia card, I would also enable GPU accelerated rendering which will speed up the whole process. These are the settings I use whenever exporting for an internet upload. The file size should be quite reasonable. I think YouTube also takes advantage of the H.264 codec so upload speeds should be quicker as well.
