August 31, 2017 at 4:27 pm in reply to: Rendering an Odd 29.97i Frame Rate in Vegas

    1080i 59.94i IS 29.97fps.
interlaced video has double the FIELDS but only HALF the total frames.

In essence 1080i is 29.97fps, Progressive can be either 29.97 or 59.94 fps.

The fields vs frames issues kicked my butt a few years back.

Are you able to open MVP 15 projects in MPV 14 this time around? I heard that may be an option now…
    Just curious!

    Thanks

June 30, 2017 at 11:31 am in reply to: Vegas Pro 14 Update 7 (Build 270) released

Pro Res, MP4, mts and a couple others from time to time-source files.
Render to (fails) – MP4, MPEG2, MXF, Pro Res.
    Both my machines
i7 4970 Devil’s Canyon, 120GB SSD system drive 32GB RAM, NVIDIA 1080 8 GB and about 9 TB of storage
Mac Pro 12 core (2 x 6 core Xeons), 240GB system drive, 32 GB RAM and Saffire 7980 3GB GPU with about 10 TB of storage.
Both were having multiple crashes when trying to render out file, the i7 more so. Just did a new edit and rendered on both machines with no crashes after the new build.

June 18, 2017 at 4:14 pm in reply to: Mercalli

I have VERY mixed results with Mercali. There used to be a preset (this was numerous version ago) for just smoothing out video pans and so forth. I have tried and tried to make one that doesn’t follow a persons movements and have yet to have good results.
I shoot a lot of plays and so forth, so my main focus doesn’t usually just STAND and not move. Mercali always seems to follow head and hand movements which makes the stabilization worse.

June 18, 2017 at 12:55 pm in reply to: Crash

I have been having more crashes than ever with Vegas 14. Half the time I can’t even render.

    I have two setups
12 Core (2 Xeon 6 core chip) Mac Pro 32GBs ECC RAM, 240 GB SSD main Mac AND Main Bootcamp Drive, Radeon Saffire 7950 3 GB GPU 12 TB of storage over 3 drives
i7 4970 Devils Canyon, 32GBs RAM, 120 GB system drive NVIDIA 1080 8GB RAM, 7 TB stoage over 3 drives.

Both will crash when editing (the i7 more) and both usually fail to render to MXF the first time. Last 3 projects have been horrible, one I could only get to render on the Mac Pro. Whenever I close out of Vegas, I get the message (Vegas has unexpectedly shut down) even though I close the program myself.

    No clue what is happening.

April 22, 2017 at 3:48 pm in reply to: Magix Vegas asks to register every time I open it

Worked it out, had to unregister, un-install, delete all my Vegas 14 files (app data/etc), clean HD, defrag and re-install. Seems to be fine now, really odd error!

    Thanks

April 19, 2017 at 12:05 pm in reply to: Do Magix care?

John, just for clarification, doesn’t alot of computer video run at 30 or 60 fps to match the 60hz of electricity, or is refresh rate not the same as fps? I know with working with ATEM switchers, it is imperative that I have a computer or laptop that can match the 29.97 or 59.94 fps or my switcher will not recognize the signal.
Just want to make sure I am understanding this all clearly. Video does 29.97 & 59.94 fps, film is 23.98 and 24 fps, and pal is 25 or 50 fps. Not sure how computer video fits in there…

    Thanks in advance.
