Thanks guys!!! I found it after I posted….and it works OK….
I have more issues with using pan/crop and keeping the FX proper. If I do match output aspect, I need to keep the border FX AFTER the pan/crop to keep the soft edge….if I am NOT using the output aspect, it needs to be in front. Also, when it is before the pan/crop, I have to run preview in draft to get any smoothness…

Really a pan in the butt. I am running an 8 core AMD, 16GB of RAM and a Radeon HD 6780 and I have to run it in draft to get smoothness on one FX and a pan/crop move….UGH!!

I use a Bootcamped Macbook pro and SVP 12 all the time. Little issue…other than the random crash that SVP is notorious for…pretty stable for the most part…

Hey Dave,

I am running the 8 core AMD FX-8350 and an HD Radeon 6870, I don’t get great video playback as I had hoped. So I am wondering what source material are you using to get rock solid 29.97 frames in good/best? I am using MP4 and M2T files from Canon G30’s (Up to 10 tracks) and other pics and motion (keyframing) and such and playback is weak…
I continually need to use Preview and transitions (crossfades) can be questionable. I purchased this card based on the fact they used it in testing for SVP11. I am now using SVP 12 and have never seen stellar performance. I am looking to upgrade this year to a new i7 system but really want to be able to preview well and I am at a loss as to what to do.
Running 16GB RAM and SSD HD on the main drive, about 10 TB of storage all drives at least SATAII and 7200 RPM’s…

I will at times at a VERY SLIGHT sharpening (Sony FX) to the final master out on the video. This helps to keep some of the HD quality LOOK on SD DVD’s. It is not always needed but sometimes helps.
I also recommend 2 pass in MPEG 2, and as John states you are comparing apples and crab apples when going from AVCHD to SD (DVD).

As always good lighting is ALWAYS important, but when going HD-SD I find it is even more important. Blacks are truer in HD and sometimes my OK lit HD doesn’t convert as well to SD and can appear a little too dark.

I have done a bazillion HD to DVD’s and this is at least my experience…

Does it have a component out? Does your manual say what type of output that has 4:2:2, 4:2:0, etc
As far as speed, a SDD drive will get you the speed you need to capture uncompressed video. Also, depending on the type of computer you have, many BM devices are PCIe cards, Thunderbolt or USB3. They are capable of taking numerous inputs including component.
ALSO, their H.264 Pro Recorder uses a 4:2:2 colorspace and only requires a USB 2 connection. I have used it with good results at our church. It IS compressed to H.264, but has better colorspace and much better quality than HDV….

Hey, just trying to help. I did the same thing with my Sony FX1’s and it was better. I cannot speak for the A1, as I don’t own one. I know my Canon G30’s and 10’s have better output on the HDMI side, but I am pleased with what I get in AVCHD as well.
