Just guessing at a possiable cause, but are you running Quicktime ver 7.6.9 ?

That is the proper QT version for MC 5.5.3, and you may have issue’s if your running a newer ver.

This is an easy question, All it will take is a client who wants to work in FCPx. It’s simple and all about money. I feel the same way about premiere. If they’re paying my rate, i’ll cut their project on windows movie maker it thats what they want.

Until that day comes I’ll work in Avid and FCP 7.

I disagree, I feel that MC runs better on a 64bit OS, even though it’s still a 32bit app. At least MC isn’t sharing 4gigs of ram with the OS and whatever other programs you may have open at the time.

Besides the fact that once it’s setup correctly, your PC will boot 2 or 3 times faster (mine is up and surfing the web in 45 secs)

MC runs pretty smooth on windows 7. though beleive it or not, i still prefer vista 64 (setup in classic mode, with all the pretty stuff turned off)

yes, you can use photoshop, but you have to add an alpha channel and save it as a tiff file. (search the help in photoshop if you don’t know how to add an alpha channel)

October 15, 2011 at 1:46 am in reply to: Question for all the pros in the buisness.

I worked at a dub house for 6 months, learned tape and just about any deck you can think off from 1″ to hdcam SR.

Than worked as an assistant editor for 2 years. The key to that was we did mostly online/finishing and spots. So it was all short turn around stuff with all sorts of different work flows.

The best advice I can give is to LISTEN to people who know what they’re talking about. And ask questions to anyone willing to answer them and Don’t act like you know, if you don’t.

    Good luck

    I use Avid and FCP.
Not here to argue or go back and forth, but you really have no idea what your talking about in terms of what Avid can do. You can pretty much do anykind of effects, Color correct, audio adjustments that you can do in FCP.

You just need to learn the program.

Just a different opinion from someone who use’s both systems

    Good luck.
