def find another editor, I LOVE avid, but work on FCP also. It drives me crazy everytime i use it, but it’s simple to learn and if the client wants to use FCP than we use it.

Tell him it’s FCP or you’ll find someone else who interested in the job.

In NYC, an edit room at a post house will run you anywhere from $150 – $350 an hour (that’s for a room with system and editor, avid or fcp) fcp tends to be a lower rate, but not always. Rates vary depending on client, job type and budget…. A lot of places are flexible these days.

Freelance editors are usually in the $400 – $750 and up per day.

It really comes down to what people are willing to pay you and the type of clients you have.

    Hope that helps, good luck

  • I say speed everything up…. Cut your intro time in half, make your gfx come in quicker, get rid of the picture and picture stuff unless you have too use it, get rid of the dissolves when going to your b-roll (just use cuts) and tighten up your (their) message.

So why is this Nick Freeman guy normal in the FCPX forum, but a total tool in the avid forum?

I would be surprised if it gets approved with v5.5, probably not to v6.

Just my opinion, avid never rushes aproval of o.s.’s because when using avid to make money, you
    Want it stable.

use the help guide (hit F1 key) Avid is pretty simple, Just different than FCP (I use them both, prefer avid though)

You don’t need training and all that crap, just when you get stuck on something look it up, 9 out of 10 times the help file will give you step by step direction on how to do it.

Avid helps those who help themselves.
