You could also collect the project, duplicate it, give each one a different name (project 1 and project 2) then import both into a new project. This way if you edit one it will not change the other even thought they are duplicates.

you could also try converting the audio to keyframes and pick whip it to CCSplit. Might not give you the detail you want but has worked well on one of my projects. If the movement is not extreme enough try boosting the audio and playing with the levels then repeat the steps (convert audio to keyframes and pick whip them to CCsplit across mouth area). You can add teeth, tongue etc. as separate layer behind the face layer. Again, might not be what you are looking for but I have had success with it.

If you are using the Quadro 4000 you must disable the Use GPU option. Folks at Videocopilot are working on this issue right now.

  • You could try ProRes or H.264 but the file will probably still be large if it is a 2 minute HD file. Are you making a playable DVD or a data disc. If you are making a playable DVD then your DVD software will compress the file (probably into an MPEG2) which will fit on a DVD. If you are trying to make a data disc you can split the motion JPEG files onto 2 separate discs if the other formats are still too large. Hope this helps.

^agreed. A background render button within AE would be a long overdue enhancement/necessity.

  • Hi Todd,
Could you please point me to a link on background rendering with media encoder. I am one of those who has seemed to miss this. Thanks.

Just FYI. The Quadro 4000 does not play well with some of the video copilot plugins. In order to use optical flares you must disable the “use GPU” function or it will crash AE. Twitch does not seem to like it either. The folks at video copilot are aware of the issue and are currently working on a fix.
