I found out that the project is a Titan 1080p-700, which seems totally ready for HD – but the client seems to be worried about BlueRay compatibility(copyright issues??) Some of the specs are:

I’m new to Motion and the project settings are a bit than some other apps. I don’t see a setting under D1/DV NTSC for 16×9 specifically. Perhaps I can convince them to go 1920×1080. Or do I work in 1920×1080 and scale it down on the output?

But wouldn’t that need a BlueRay disc for those HD parameters? They don’t have that. At first I was thinking I would use NTSC D1/DV Anamorphic 1.2 but not sure that would be correct. Would that be ‘wide’ enough for a screen at those dimensions (50×25)?

John, how would I alter the Windows Media output settings in UltimateS Pro? There’s a 512Kbps then jumps to 3Mbps. I need a 2Mbps. Possible? I don’t see an ‘edit’ button to alter.

Thanks, I had UltimateS way back… I don’t know when. (I’m trying to get my info sent to me in email). Looks like it will do what I want and lots more.

So, is there any reason to use PA over UltimateS Pro? Both made by VASST, right? Wonder why UltimateS Pro wasn’t the offering if it does all and maybe more?

So I guess the solution is to maybe use PA to automate creating regions in the timeline – but then it starts rendering the whole timeline so cancel that – and then use the Batch Script to render the regions out to the format and location I want.(?) Unless anyone has a better flow…

Thanks. Yes, I was wondering if PA could do that instead of using the batch script in Vegas. Seems like it should (thought I saw it in the video on the Sony site with DSE) but now I’m not sure. I’ll have to review, I guess.

One type of project I frequently work on involves extracting tons of clips from 1-2hr files, placing them in the timeline in sections for a given topic. Then I was thinking I could render out the clips in each section to a folder (windows media is what I want to have in the end), as this is what I need in the end, files for a topic in a their own folder. I have tried selecting the area of the timeline and selecting the individual clips and then processing but it wants to make one file out of all of them. I see in the PA interface that it says ‘process individual files’ so not sure I’m reading that correctly?

Sorry, I forgot to mention that for the most part I’ll be working in SD DV (acquiring with an XL2). We may move to HDV sometime in the future.
