PC or Mac notebook to run Production Premium CS3?
I’m starting a job where I’ll be using Production Premium CS3 so I have to put in for my system. First, I’ve used Macs here and there (primarily for FCP and AVID) but I’ve been primarily a PC guy to this point.
I’m going to need a laptop to run On-Location at times and I understand I should be able to do this on the Mac platform by running Windows on the Mac (tell me if I’m wrong). Is anyone doing this? I’ve run DV Rack on my personal Dell laptop with no trouble.
I want to get a laptop that I can use with all of the PP CS3 products, that is very fast and won’t leave me wanting more in 3 months. I’ll most likely have a docking station setup with a larger monitor when in-house. I’m not sure if this is problem on the Mac Books but a lot of the PC laptops come with a lot of extra crap software on them.
Anyone using both have any advice? Anyone running PP CS3 with no problems on their laptops? I want to do this right.
It’s not that price isn’t an issue but they do want me to have what I need so I’m not too worried. Hey, it’s someone else paying!

Sorry, I forgot to mention that for the most part I’ll be working in SD DV (acquiring with an XL2). We may move to HDV sometime in the future.

The Macbook Pro laptop will allow you to run Windows for those applications, and Mac for those apps. So there is really no downside.

okey, first of all. reformat your laptop if you wanna get rid of those extra worthless software. easy job. second. on my new Dell inspiron 6400 dell laptop with every posible upgrade. Premiere pro 2, adobe after effects work very nice and clean next to each other. i’ve also connect a big tv screen for full previews and that works fine.
why buying a mac and still run windows on it? thats a bit weird. but CS3 is also in mac version right, so you can choose. there is also a heavier class of dell notebooks than the inspiron.
some people who have macs tell me they are so light, so well designed etc. but yeah., who cares if it’s 3kg. as long as it’s workes, is fast, has a good battery and a great screen to look at.good luck choosing 🙂

ps: mayby go to an apple store and ask if you can try out on of there macs for a week or so? or in there store.
