We are using the Decklink HD Extreme 3 going SD-SDI out of an AVHS400 connected to 3-4 EX3s and taking analog audio from a board into the card. The stream is pretty flawless.

    Craig,
I see that you said you have been using firewire to stream HD using Wirecast. We have been using wirecast taking SD-SDI into a blackmagic card because we felt like HD was too big a bandwidth for our customers to view and look nice. How has your experience been?

July 7, 2009 at 6:10 pm in reply to: capturing 24p from a non-24p camcorder?

    Hey Matt,
Yes this is possible since the DVX100 does not shoot native 24p. Since it records in 60i to give a 24p look, any camera that can play back 60i DV footage will be able to be used as a capture device.

June 5, 2009 at 5:15 pm in reply to: Sony NAB Rebate Rip Off

I agree with you that it is Sony could and should have opened it up to the entire sonystyle site. It is silly that they didn’t.

And those 3 dealers that you named are certainly reputable, big names.

But as a Sony dealer, we were sent literature upon the launch of this program which clearly stated that the rebate was limited to certain items. If a company chose not to educate themselves and pass that info along to the customer, who is at fault?

    Daniel,
I have much experience with the HVL-LBP on-camera light and it is heads above the Varizoom or any other light I have ever used. you will not be dissapointed.

And those of you who are upset should not be upset with Sony. Sony makes it very clear that these are the only products that you get with the rebate. Be upset with your dealer for not being clear with you. When I sell the EX systems I make sure to show everyone that these are the products to choose from on the Sonystyle site.

Personally I would go for the HVL-LBPA on-camera light. They sell it for more than street value but with $500 off it is a great deal. That light works wonders and I guarantee you will get some good use out of it.

What about the on-camera light or shotgun microphones. You could use those with your EX1..

April 29, 2009 at 2:15 pm in reply to: DVCPROHD Record times

    Hey Daniel,
The length of time that is listed on the box is for recordign DVCPro 50. DVCPro HD is DVC Pro 100 so you have to divide the amount by 2. If you were recording on DVCPro 25, you could actually multiply the number by 2 and get 132 minutes. They used to make tapes specifically for DVCPro HD but they discontinued them so now you just have to know that if you are recording in DVCPro HD to cut the time in half.
