I paid like 500$ for my 4x WD Black caviar internal Raid
8 TB in Raid 0 gives +-500 mb/s read and write.
I also have an external 8 TB Raid 5 as backup over eSata writing with 140 mb/s.

I think if you could come close to what the Elements provide today you have a market.
I need (in that order) Color controls, Curve controls, Size controls and keys.
Navigation is done much quicker with a pen, but versioning would be nice.
As with all tiny devices, you need more than one.
Even with all the Elements on my table, I wish I had a second set.
Dedicated LOG controls and less menu changing.
I suggest you go and visit a Resolve dealership that has a real board and spend some time with it.
Its unmatched in functionality and ease of use.A slice of color…

Yep, I second that…one of my major wishes for a future version.
We tried to do something for RED media a couple of years ago and they sent over their lawyers .

Yes…2012 MacPro, ditch the ATI, use the 4000 for the UI and get either a 570 or the upcoming Quadro for internal power.
But your first concern is your (almost) 5 years old computer.A slice of color…

I would not invest in the Rocket because we will more and more non Red media in the future.
Also i find it cumbersome to grade “through” the Rocket as it ads a big delay when navigating the media.
The only benefit I see in using it is if you are doing HD dailies on a daily base and have to transcode tons of material.A slice of color…

Keep the Mac, spend the money on a Cubix and never look back.
Resolve teamed up with the new Smoke 2013 is the system I always dreamed of.

I would just make an extra video track and blend that in normal mode .
But I agree, the whole picture in picture topic needs more attention at this point.
I would live to see a cascading node that just takes what I have and puts in on top .
So I can use a clip from a different time, loop a portion of it and superimpose it over..tracked.
