The beta is a little more evolved than B3, so stay tuned.
But if you need production performance, use R9.
Quastion…what are you rendering to ?
Can you try a file based format please ?
Does it also happen when you render from RedCine ?
What OS and how much RAM ?

Rohit, I am pretty sure the performance drop introduced with Mavericks has to do with the BMD drivers.
When I´m using the optical audio its just fine.
I am using the latest desktop video and its much better already, but still, it feels like the audio is waiting for the video or the other way round.
Even simple system sounds feature the same lag Resolve has from turning a control to seeing the change on screen.
Like its syncronised in a weird way.
But without the Decklink card using only Core audio the problem is gone.
I mean, the BMD Forum is full of reports like this..isnt it?A slice of color…

Well, I think a defeult is always wrong, so I made myself presets for the different task and whenever a new one pops up I check and extend the list.
But most of the time I just right click the last project I worked on and copy those settings, takes 2 seconds.
But I think you can also overwrite the default manually, right ?A slice of color…

November 1, 2013 at 9:01 am in reply to: need some tips to prepare a better blue/green chroma key in davinci 9I totally agree.
I tend to pull a key of the green or blue BG and then turn it to a neutral grey.
Then I do the grade, sometime if a BG is provided I superimpose that from track 2.
But without a proper OFX keyer, you are fighting an impssible battle.
Resolve keys are for quick interaction and isolation, not perfection.
Always use Ultimate, Primatte or Smoke Modular keyer for proper integration.
(maybe that will change with R10)A slice of color…

I always ask my clients to render their speed changes with optical flow quality into RedLog.
Thus you dont have to worry about the timing and get the best possible grading quality.
Alternatively you can deactivate the speed clips, or have them on a separate time line and copy the grades from the ones in the original timeline to that one and have the editor reassemble them.
Both takes time that needs to be planned into the production accordingly.
Besides that I always prefer to go to DPX first, but as he said, you need a proper RAID for that.A slice of color…

Funny enough, yes I do…
I was blaming Mavericks for the issue until I switched back to Resolve 9 and it runs perfectly fine on 10.9So maybe there is a prob in R10RC2 ?
I am puzzled to say the least..
Could it be something with the drivers used to drive the audio ?A slice of color…

Its the Decklink…its not Resolve…
The audio/ video functionality is definitely broken in 10.9.0
I also tried the new Desktop Video installer and its the same in Media ExpressA slice of color…

Generally speaking, you have to plan ahead.
The problem is that editors these days act like Producers, VFX gurus, colorists and DITs.
And on the surface a tool like Premiere and FCPX or similar can do all this..
But nothing really good.
So I would suggest you think about what to do and where and then follow a route.
For example, its much easier to rough cut a show, then just export an EDL with the selected clips and a load of handles to Resolve, grade that without going to much into details and do the final edit on the graded material.
Also crazy speed effects, picture in picture and reframing is done easily in the NLE and a PITA to recreate manually in Resolve.
As long as we lack a common interchange language or optical flow tracking of the whole show to effortless recreate all this I would tend to not do them in the start but in the end.
Only Smoke can handle all these tasks in a proper way and quality but if you plan ahead you get very far with FCPX and Resolve and a handful of good plugins.A slice of color…
