  • I actually used a 15 ” last gen on set last week . I went into terminal and the display size to 75 % to be able to see the Resolve interface .
Then I loaded Alexa PR files and did a quick for night effect.
Playback speed was 4 fps with three nodes 😉
Its not an option , it’s a toy.
What I need is a 17″ 1920x QuadroMobile workstation if I am planing to do it more regulary .

On all the grading systems I use Red is a pita withoe without Rocket and always do a conform to DPX .
Especially if I am planing to do secondary layered shots (boom corrections , inserts ) Red tends to crash the systems.
I think DaVinci is super stable in it’s own , but all sorts of media containers are tough to handle.
Try using Sapphires on them, almost impossible too

So does that mean, effectively for a single card solution, this quite useless ?
Can or will OSX or Resolve use only the 200something Cuda pipes ?
Because then the Q4000 is probably the better and safer solution.
I was hoping for double performance with 400something

All right, that might be a nice idea.
I am just a little confused by the 80s style of the keyboard 🙂
I was hoping for a Logitech illuminated keyboard with laser edged see through keys, flat, nice and modern.
I will probably stick to the G13.

Thunderbolt might be too slow, and you want a 17″ screen anyway for Resolve.
Thats a great solution, thanks for posting.
Now we only need a patched GTX 590 🙂

GTX cards do no debayering, no Sir, sorry Sir.
But honestly, I rather spend the time and either do Proxies from RED or go the DPX 16 route.
grading with a rocket is no fun, it just takes to long to navigate.
Dailies are another topic of course.

  • I think the same actually.
I can totally grade in Scratch or Color without a panel due to the very handy and yeah, useful Color wheels.
But the tangent is soooo cheap, really, just get it, its well supported by DaVinci ( i think ) and you should be able to pay it of with three or four days of work.

Look for his shop on eBay
Those are standard PC cards, patched to show up as Quadro 4000 on the Mac
They just have double the amount of Cuda pipes .
They will probably work just fine but of course are not officially supported

    I totally second that !
Especially with the vWave available for Color.
Not a replacement for a real ball controller but kick ass sitting in the grading theater, doing at least playback and wheel controls .
Until it comes : Teamviewer !
