March 28, 2011 at 12:55 pmLook for his shop on eBay
Those are standard PC cards, patched to show up as Quadro 4000 on the Mac
They just have double the amount of Cuda pipes .
They will probably work just fine but of course are not officially supportedA slice of color…

March 28, 2011 at 2:24 pmSome people are using up to 4 GTX-480 cards (water cooled) with the Asus Supercomputer board running OSX for Resolve. That is allot of GPU I think the 480 will run rings around the 4000 and the 4800. I have 3 GTX285’s in mine and have yet to run out of GPU.

March 28, 2011 at 4:01 pmRobert, I have identical setup. Thats funny.
Been thinking about 580 cards if I move to 3D. I’d love to swap EFI strings some time. Are you custom stringing your DSDT or just the normal mods?

March 28, 2011 at 4:15 pm480GTX Works fine, with 2K 1.85 10bits log dpx material, 10-12 full effects nodes (Grading/Curve/PowerWindow/Qualifier/Blur all on) 24fps realtime smoothly.
Hope the new GTX590 will work, which got 1024 cuda cores, which is a real monster.mark

March 28, 2011 at 4:28 pmI do not have a DSDT file I have a modified BIOS and a usb stick booter which loads a vanilla OSX build on the drive. This is Aquamac’s setup and is super reliable with only 3 or 4 kext files to make the system run. I have a com.apple.boot.plist file with the GTX285 cards in it. Aquamac also has a boot.plist string for the GTX-480’s too.
I have a ATTO R380 and a 20 drive SAS case Iam going to impliment after I finish a job I am working on now. I plan on filling the case with 20 WD black 2Tb disks.
I am temporarily using a Rocket-Raid with 12 1Tb Hitachi Deskstars in Raid-5 which works ok for 2K dpx frames but not the performance I am looking for.
I just bought a Hubble probe and I am looking at PJ’s and I am buying Lightspace for calibration…… so $ is flying….
