Isn’t it 10 times expense as a single gtx480?

March 31, 2011 at 3:14 pmI think it is also about the stability of your work that counts.
When system crashes or power supply burns thats bad news when in client session. If somebody gives details that one could have 30 nodes etc then i would consider maybe.
Till then it is more like nice theory.Even here was a debate if 470 would use all cores or half of them will run idle as
system would not see them.Cubix makes sense as you can force cooling a bit and have better options for extra power.
Yes price is always important but not the only thing to keep in mind.—

March 31, 2011 at 3:32 pmThat is the reason I ultimately didn’t build a custom system. It seems dangerous to have to rely on third party drivers and hacks when you have deadlines to meet and nervous clients.
Also as far as cost goes, a Mac will always have a higher resale value than a custom-built computer. So I have a greater chance to recover money in the next upgrade.

March 31, 2011 at 4:17 pmIf u know how things work, hackintosh is faster, more flexible, and reliable enough. If u don’t know, then real Mac crashes all the time.
30 nodes? That sounds like a vfx shot but not a grading job for me. -

March 31, 2011 at 4:32 pmIt was more like for speed indication.
Hack is not the way to do business in my mind.

March 31, 2011 at 10:59 pmI have not tried that yet, I am doing a 2K 35mm job right now. I don’t know if the 6-Core CPU will lift a full res or 2K Debayer in real time, I doubt it. The GPU’s do not do the De-mosaicing if I am correct…
