    Hi Jeremy,

    I’m on 10.8.4.
In the finder, I see this stupid new thing, that shows it as package.
In X, when I click on the top folder, that contains the copied card, I see all the clips in list view, but I can’t change the view, nor choose e.g. To hide already imported material.
Also: I’d be curious, how I can rock through a card and in the end, only import my selected ranges. Now, it imports also the clips I did not set any ranges on, fully.

    Thanx.

    Hi Jeremy,
sorry that is confusing from my site: I just took the screen grab from that folder – since the Cards I am ingesting are very confidential material,
but the when I go to import of the actual cards, I get the same Import window, which is missing a couple of features.

I really do not understand your answer: Of course it was possible in FCP7: in the L&T window, I did it all the time.
As I said: I DO have the original card copied onto my internal Raid. FCPX also recognises it as card.
This is why I do not understand, why I miss the options in the window and also I’d like to know, how to import not clip by clip, but do all my ins & outs for the whole card and then import only the clips that were defined by range selection.

Of course I deselect the Close Window Option. It’s not inconvenient, but when working long hours, it can happen you forget to Hold Cmnd key and then all is lost, not horrible, but not very smart. And yes, it goes on my Feedback List.
It would be great if somebody could still explain me, why I don’t have the view options in the import window and how to select clips, parts of clips and non selected clips and then only import the selections and not also the non selected clips on the card.

    Thanx a bunch.

That’s a bit lame. If you have a 15min clip and you set more than 10 Range selections and then they are all lost and there’s no way back? Not so good WF.

    Hi Andy,

Thanx for answering. but the point is, that I want to transcode my selected bits to ProRes, which is only a small part of the whole footage chunk. So, you are saying, I have to create an archive of the cards again first, and then access the archive to get the options?

    To Jeremy:
Nope, the movies are not converted. It’s the original AVCHD Card structure, copied to my internal RAID.

And a third Q, concerning the same topic: Let’s say I have a long clip and I selected multiple in&out points, but at one point I forget to set the in&out with Shift+Command+I, but only I, then I erase all my other Range selections I already made. Is there a way to go back, so I don’t have to reselect everything from scratch? Undo does not help in this case. It’s rather frustrating, that with one wrong click you can lose a lot of work.

    thanx.

I should mention the following: What I am looking for is a similar workflow like in FCP7 in the L&T window: I go through all my clips, select ins & outs of the clips or parts of the clips I like and then take it in at once, without import the clips that I did not select. Possible?

That was before I knew how to use it. Now I did a month of intensive training and I’m secure with it. Now, also all the good and bad of X is more obvious to me.
