just make sure, your footage is progressive – if not, make that part first progressive by De-Interlacing, then do what’s mentioned above. If not, you will freeze frame a picture with Interlaced lines.

Yes, there is, but you are mixing some work flows with each other in general:
1. You can put Markers in the Viewer that is right. I do that a lot with my master clips – it sets the markers into the original source files in the Browser.
2. You can put markers on the timeline on clips, so they will appear on the Clip in the Timeline (and not in the original clip in the Browser).
3.) How to create subclips is a entire different story: In your Master Clip in the Viewer window, choose an in point (shortcut “i”) and and outpoint (“o”) to defined the part you want to create the sublip from. then press Command+”U” and FCP will create a sublip – which is NOT a new self containing clip, but a reference to the selected part from your MasterClip. Now, you can rename the Subclip – and there you go – new clip made.
4.) If at the end you wanna get rid of all the parts you do not need: Select all your Subclips in the Browser you want to use. Choose Media Manager and Trim the Project to those selected clips.

Thanx I will try the Flicker Filter.
About shooting in Color: For the outside shots I used a strong Red Filter on the lens – to accenturate the sky and then it is better to shoot right away in B&W, otherwise you see an “infrared” image, which is really terrible to work with.
Yes, in some of the shots I did set the Detail level to 0 – and yet I got the color fringe.
Really would like to know where that comes from exactly and how to avoid it next time.Thanx!

But I watched it also on my HD Screen of the MacBook Pro 17inch – in original size, without scaling:
The strange turquois color fringe and some of the distortion in the lines stays.
Yes, the downscaling on my SD Monitor/Computer Screen definately makes it a little worse, but it’s still present even in HD.Which brings me to a different, but equally important question I have:
I have to online this project in Amsterdam, on my mobile MacBook Pro system, working over FW800 with External HD.
What can be the best, and low pricest workflow to do the Color Grading?
I guess, coming from an SD World – the old way of connecting an External Monitor over a DV-Deck with FW won’t do it right?!?What else can I do without spending tons of cash?

P.S.: The guy who deleted the SxS card the other time was crucifed – but since we managed to restor 95% of the files, he was taken off and resurrected 😉

I tried it, it does not really seem to help: I have to crank the softness up, that much, that the Whole image gets blury.
Is there any other way I could try?I included a still of the footage.

Hi Rafael,
thanx we managed to recover it like this. Unfortunately, I was apparantly to desperate in my asking for help. And I almost was expelled from Creative Cow for my Subject Healine – using words like urgent and help. So, two lessons learned – never let the CA handle the cards and do not get over emotional on the COW.

Well, usually our workflow is ok, I copy always personally the whole BVAP Folder, but in this case, the CA forgot the HD and wanted to empty space on his iBook, to connect the Card Reader and put it on the Laptop.
Unfortunately the card reader with the card was already connected to the Computer during his deleting mission, and he saw those clips in the finder under movies – thought they are old waste on the system and deleted them – mistake of tiredness after a 14 hour shooting day. Believe me, he was almost executed for that fault and probably had the worst moment in his life by himself. But it is how it is, and taught me also the lesson – never to let somebody else touch those tasks – to me, till now – those things never happened.
Do you know if that recovery software you mentioned under your weblink has a good chance of succeeding? It is relatively expansive and it’s no use buying it, if it’s not working.
Did you hear that somebody managed to recover SxS card files like that before?Greetings,
