Yes, but how would you import two or three specific layers in an Illustrator file (without importing all the layers as a composition). Have you ever managed to do this? Thanks.

True, but what if you’ve added an additional 2/3 layers in the original AI file.

It depends on your computers processing power and how complicated the project is. Smooth playbacks are a luxury for those with powerful machines.

One way of improving it is to change the quality of the playback (eg. to half or third), and also skip frames. You can find these options in the preview panel.
