Why not dump the C100s, use an F3 or C300 instead, and get everything done via SDI?
SDI – Record ProRes – loop through to switcher and monitor for Dailies/Rough Cut.
Why complicate matters? The ability to Genlock could be very handy, too. Does the Director’s cut have to be done in real-time?

I have a question: What do you mean by “render this sequence”? What are you rendering to, and why?

Why not try a different 10-bit source? Forget Prores and FCP originated content and try it on a TIFF image created via Photoshop.
Also, can you reproduce this problem on a windows machine?

Or how’s this different from a hd-sdi splitter? Wouldn’t it be better to monitor a signal at source, as well as after processing?

What do you mean by ‘project’ – your source files and project files or the exported final video?
If it’s the latter you’re better off with a tape deck that will write to DV tapes. I don’t think it can record off a component stream (analog), but the Firewire might (Not sure about this). Here’s a link that might be of assistance: https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/3/929342

For basic 4K I’d look at an F5 over the Scarlet, as mentioned in the article.

Andrzej, edit native H.264 in Sony Vegas in 24p and lock. When your audio and video are synced and ready, then render to DNxHD while speeding up to 25 fps.
It’s simple. Do a quick test with a small clip and you’ll see. Hope this helps.

You will be pleased with how easy working in Premiere Pro is. If you like native editing, there’s nothing else like it.
You could try their monthly plan before committing to the full suite. However, I must say that the benefits are far more visible on a Windows machine, including the Mercury playback engine. You will need to upgrade no matter what, as Dennis has said.

Eric, do you have other projects on hand? If yes, drop it. If no, complete it, and put it on your showreel. Who knows, maybe the director will call you for future work, and you can renegotiate your terms better.
Ask them for some money, but don’t be too hard on them. If they refuse, continue ‘working’, but look for other projects. Drag your heels if you can, and find excuses for missing deadlines. If they don’t pay you something now, they deserve it.
