December 31, 2012 at 6:22 pm in reply to: Simple questions re CS6 (opening image, croppint)Are you sure you double clicked on the desktop to open the image or you double clicked the application frame to open the image. Because they still have that double click option in CS6.
Regarding Crop tool, you can turn off that feature by selecting the crop tool and going to the options bar and click on the additional crop options (wheel icon) and select the first option ‘Use Classic Mode’. The new feature will take some time to get used to but its very powerful.
You can also use the shortcut by Selecting the crop tool and select the handles in the crop box and click ‘P’ (make sure you select the crop box before you press ‘P’ or else it will switch to Pen tool) will toggle back and forth.
If you want to learn more about crop tool, you can check my recent tutorial, which i’ve covered everything about crop tool in CS6.

December 31, 2012 at 6:05 pm in reply to: How to use image and text to make smooth vector logo? You made logo with brush or pen tool?
Logo designs are best if you make in illustrator or you can use the pen tool inside photoshop to create them, even if you zoom in it’ll be clear.
Well technically if you zoom in it won’t be clear, because photoshop is a raster based and not vector. but if you scale your logo it won’t get pixelated like you scale a normal design drawn with brush.

Go to Preferences, under interface select ‘Show Transformation Values’ and set it to ‘Never’.

Are you sure you are not drawing with the pencil tool.

So far i know tga doesn’t embed alpha like PNG. You can add alpha ‘channel’ along with the file.
Here’s the step.
1. Make a selection your logo (make sure you have the running ants around your logo) (it doesn’t matter even if you have background layer)
2. Go to Select > Save Selection
3. Under the Channel option select new (if not selected)
4. give it a name (optional)
5. Click OK, that’ll be saved as a new channel in your channel palette (you can open and see)now..
6. Save your file and select tga option.
7. Below the save options, check the ‘Alpha Channel’, which will include the new alpha channels which you have created (this option won’t display if you haven’t created the new alpha channel.)
8. Click Save, and check ’32 bits/ pixels’. Do not select the lower bits, it doesn’t work.
9. Done.10. Open your file again (or drag and drop), open the channel palette you can see your saved alpha channel.
11. Load the alpha from Select > Load selection
12. Click your alpha name and click load and extract your image.Iam not sure if there’s any other method. Let me know.

See if you can get the same preview on Bridge, because in explorer you cannot see .psd file as preview.
If your file is corrupted then most likely you might not able to see the preview in bridge. It will just show you the psd icon.
Give it a shot, if you see the preview in bridge then you could try to take the snapshot of that and work on top of it.
Can you send a preview of the image and the photoshop opened file as a snapshop?

Thanks for the information, I have never bothered about learning printing, although iam more interested now. Iam a designer and animator and everything i do is for web and nothing for printing so far.
If its not too much to ask, can you suggest me some books where i can get in-depth knowledge of printing and color information.

January 19, 2012 at 1:19 am in reply to: Solod Color Adjustment Layer Color Range ProblemThats because, you have selected the mask layer. select your original image before you select the color range dialogue box. The color range dialogue or any other effects dialogue box reads only the current layer selection.
select your original layer and select ‘color range dialogue box’ and make a selection then go back to your mask layer and do the changes.
