As it stands now, as far as I know, there is no way to access external storage from the KiPRO… ethernet is only for control, not file transfer. Otherwise, it’s a great deck replacement!

I’m pretty sure the KiPRO does not de-embed timecode from the SDI stream, so you aren’t going to get it on the TC out. Does the ALexa have a TC out? You could jam the R4 to the camera and just let it roll.

We have the Fujinon 3.3. Its an awesome lens! Highly recommend, just pricey. Makes jib guys and stedi ops very happy.

    Hey Gary…

We haven’t experience any problem at all, and often record for 3 to 4 hours continuously. I do, however, feed them from a reclocking router. That may help keep the signals clean and strong.

This is something we do all the time… I built a rack that will ingest 7 streams of HD-SDI directly into Final Cut. Most recently we used it to record the Stevie Wonder Gershwin prize concert in the White House. On that show they had a 12 hour turnaround for a 1 hour long 6 camera plus line cut edit. We delivered them 7 FW800 hard drives with all the ISO’s.

Send me an email if you are interested… we rent our systems all over the country.

I have 8 V4HD’s and I think they are terrific! We use them to record multi-camera events for broadcast.

I don’t recall which menu setting it is, but you can change the data rate of the Firewire port on the deck. Make sure it’s set to 400.
