i’m so lazy that I’d just add a slider and animate that. Dan’s advanced calculations scare me

It looks like you’ve applied some kind of vertical blur to the text on the left. It also looks like the position may be at a half pixel which would force aliasing. It is hard to tell what is wrong without looking at the project

There are two tutorials here that will help. one is called animating the camera, the other expressing the camera. Check the tutorials button and look by first letter.

April 29, 2006 at 1:54 pm in reply to: formula for sequencing layers

When I sequence layers I usually just grab them all in the project window and then drag them to the new comp icon. you get a dialogue box that gives you options to sequence the layers and set the overlap. before I start I just divide the time by the number of seconds. say you have 40 photos and you want the comp to be 2 minutes divide 120 by 40 and get 3 seconds, then you add the layer overlap and put it in the length window. Now your comp is made exactly the right length and all you had to do is divide the time you want by the number of photos and decide what the overlap would be.

I’m sorry to say I don’t know much about that expression except that I found it here at the cow while searching for solutions to add to the chart I keep in my how to do stuff binder. as far as I can tell the expression just rounds off the position value to a whole number. you can still get the jitters if the speed is wrong if the speed makes the title move 2 frames most of the time then 1 or 3 other times.

maybe someone understands this better than I do and can give you an answer, maybe if you modified the expression so that it rounded to the nearest half pixel there would be more speeds where the type doesn’t jitter.

wish I could be of more help

I really like dvmatte pro. i think it does a better job with dv footage smoothing things out. light wrap and color correction is also built in. I think there’s a free trial.
