formula for sequencing layers
i often use the Sequence Layers keyframe assistant to make quick montages of layers that all have the same duration. in order to ensure that the duration of my layer sequence fits exactly (or as closely as possble) into my comp’s duration, i will use trial & error — set the duration of all of my layers by setting their in-points at 0:00:00:00, trimming their out-points, then sequence them. if the layer sequence extends past the end of the comp, i’ll undo, re-trim out-points, try again.
i’m wondering if there is some algebraic formula i could use to calculate the exact duration of my layers so that their sequence would fit in the duration between the first layer’s in-point and the end of the comp’s duration.
the way i figure, there are four variables:
t = amount of time in comp’s duration to fill with layer sequenced = duration of each layer to sequence (assuming d is same on all layers)
o = duration of overlap (if any)
n = number of layers to sequence
i’m terrible at algebra. can some math-minded AE guru help out?
thanks in advance,
