Hey Naor,
I have had this happen to me tons of times with HDV tapes.
Here’s what i would try if you did not already.
Try playing the tape from your camera and see if it does the same thing. If the tape plays fine, log and capture from the cam and you may have a clogged head on the deck. If it does not play fine then you know it is not the deck, it is most likely the tape.
Sometimes you can get “lucky” by going into your FCP settings under User Pref. and uncheck mark the two that say “Abort capture on dropped frames” and “Abort ETT/PTV on dropped frames” You will still have the dropped frames but at least you have the rest of the clip.
You can also try playing the tape out of the cam and record onto the deck. You will lose a generation and the dropped frame may still be there but it might help.
Last resort!! If you are pretty good with scissors and tape (and I mean very good) you can try to guesstimate where the bad sector is on the tape, pull that part out of the casing and cut it off then tape the two pieces back together. That is a long shot and you are definitely going to lose more video that way.
That’s the only thing I can think of. In my experience, HDV tapes are the worst for reliablity. I always had a hard drive recording while it was going to tape just for those “special moments”
Good luck

Hey Chad,
Thanks for the titles. I’ll let you know if we choose yours.
As for the betamax dubs, I did not get them transfered yet. That deals with one of my side projects and right now i am swamped with paying gigs 🙂

Hey Mark, awesome titles!1 Thanks.

Hey Shane,
Dave is the tattoo artist. The main guys are the chopper guys. Frank does the custom bikes, Scott does servicing on all types of 2 wheel machines.
So basically it is about a custom bike shop that also services. The tattoo artist is the 3rd in the line of importance 🙂

I was going to go with that one but i wanted to incorporate the fact that they do tattoo’s too 🙂

I like the Bud Light spot with all the guys talking on the phone in the “autotone” voice. For us tech guys, it was the only one that made me physically laugh out loud because of all the “hype” around using the digital effect in just about every music video.

Thanks everyone for your input.
Unfortunately Matt & Rich, my client needs them today 🙂
That’s why I thought I would do it myself since he’s “under the gun”
I will let him know about your websites though.
BTW – We r located in North East Pennsylvania.
Thanks again

Hey Baz,
I am playing it off a 500gb Western Digital hard drive.
What spec’s do you use? What do you use to compress your video to the players qualifications?

Ok, thanks
I did not know i was allowed to post commercials. I thought it was just for people who wanted to show off their reels.
