Hi Tim,
Sorry for the delay and thanks for the inquiry.
I’ll try to be brief because this issue has been going on for 6 yrs now with this company.
We purchased and fully paid for a unit that we could attach to a video camera in the field and transmit the audio and video back to our control room for live shots using 3g or Wi-Fi. Needless to say the unit has never worked properly. The company has come down to our office numerous times throughout the 6 yrs to try and monkey with it. They’ve also said numerous times that they “totally re-designed” the unit and that it’s working.
So fast forward to today. We have not heard back from this company since the last failed attempt when they were at our office back in May of 2017. To make matters worse, they have the unit and we gave them a video camera to test it with, so we paid about $16K for a unit we do not have in our possession and they have a video camera of ours as well. In the meantime, several of their staff have resigned leaving just the owner to deal with.
I’ve sent letters to the Better Business Bureau and Attorney General’s Office of Consumer Affairs but they have stated they can’t help us because the warranty on the unit has expired (which is frustrating because we only had the unit in our possession to use for about 2 months, so how can a warranty be applied?)
So that’s the short version of this 6 yrs. + nightmare.
If you need any type of proof I have all the email exchanges and the invoice for the units.
Thanks

I’ve used the OSMO. Not that great. It does a little better than just walking with the camera but you still see the up and down movements. I even got the “z axis” stabilizer for it but it still didn’t give me the smoothness I was looking for. Plus you need a smartphone to use as your viewfinder/record. I noticed the connection between them would sometimes go out.
I don’t know what your budget is but I’ve been very happy with the ZHIYUN Crane.

Thanks Todd,
Sorry for the confusion. We have a family owned production company. There are 4 owners and I am 1 of them.
As far as us ” allowing an employee to refuse your request ” – we aren’t in this instance. We treat our employees like family and give them many perks along the year. It’s sad to see that certain one’s feel they can do these types of things and think nothing of it.
We know what we have to do now, I just wanted to see if anyone else had experiences like this.
Thanks again for your time and knowledge 🙂

Thanks Rob,
When I was looking at the porta brace products, I needed something that can hold not just my DR70D.
In this link for the AO-1XB it does show an audio recorder and receivers in the case.
https://www.portabrace.com/ao-specials/audio-organizer-case-black-104.htmlSo I assumed this would be the one for me.
Unfortunately I can’t seem to figure out how to get the receivers in there and plugged into the DR70D without the XLR connections being bent.
But I guess I’ll take Brian’s advice and troll around the FB communities 🙂

Thanks Mark for the great tips 🙂

October 9, 2016 at 12:14 am in reply to: 2 cameras: 24fps and 60fps – how to render? If you really need the slo mo I’d shoot it in 60p with the one cam and 24p with the other and drop it in a 24p timeline.
Just my 2 cents 🙂

Thanks all for the replies.
I just got more details of the shoot.
I’m in Pennsylvania. We will be on private land and 2 of the “on camera” guides have handguns.
Here’s the thing, the segment we are doing is about bigfoot 🙂
These 2 guys are bigfoot hunters and we have 2 hosts going with them on a hunt at night.
Now it is assumed that we are not going to find even a trace of bigfoot, so we (the production team) decided to see what would happen if they did find him. In other words, we have a guy that is going to dress up as bigfoot. Now our 2 hosts are not aware of this and either are the 2 with the guns. That’s why I’m afraid to see what might happen when they run into our guy.
So I was curious about the laws because I need a solid way of telling them not to bring their real guns.

Again, the show will showcase beer but also wine and other alcoholic beverages
