Interestingly enough, it actually worked when I tried it again. I set each video clip’s “Destination” to “Main Menu” and “Destination Item” to “Loop point” and the DVD returns to the point in the menu timeline where I placed the green marker (in Architect, not Vegas).

The glitch seems to be – upon starting the dvd for the first time, buttons aren’t activated until after the loop point. But this works to my advantage because the viewer has to watch the animation before moving forward, as I intended.

Hi Jordon – Thank you for your reply.

Can you explain resistive summing a little further? I didn’t have much luck googling it.

Perhaps you can even link me to a unit that would be appropriate for a digital coax y splitter?

You have to pay for it but it seems to be the most popular solution to your issue. Simply install it, and you will be able to import those files into the timeline.

This is a live broadcast environment where we are continuously pulling clips directly off air and editing them for the web. We post clips to our site 24 hours a day. The idea is to get each clip up to the site as soon as possible after they air on television, which is completely dictated by render time. So this isn’t the type of work that can be batched overnight.

13 seconds vs. 26 seconds per minute of video is 1/2 the time. That’s a lot, especially when your clips get up to 40 minutes in length.

Among other reasons, we don’t use Assistant Pro because it doesn’t support network rendering, another integral part of our workflow.

I hope that explains why this is a legitimate issue for me. I am still hoping someone could explain this!

I know. I spent a good amount of time trying to find automated Network Render scripts before I discovered that sad fact.

John, thanks for the information. You are probably right about me having Vegas running while I uninstalled. That’s also why I figured a re-install/un-install would work. Deleting the .dll manually did, in fact do the trick as well.

Production Assistant was pretty cool and could have been a valuable tool for my workflow, if only it supported Network Rendering.

I’d rather not do that. I have it pretty customized at this point. Plus, Vegas still works, I just have to click ok for the error. Still not acceptable though, especially for a product that Sony sells.
