Usually you are right but in this case, I think a tech is needed—Tell us what happens one way or another.

I know, there is a tutorial over at DigitalVideo–it goes on for something like four pages whereas you can learn your application in about five minutes. Unbelievable—

One thing I forgot—I have to give Vegas a big edge in multicam editing, do to the scripts by Ed and the guys over at Vaast. Premiere just added this feature and let me tell you, it is poorly designed—it takes too many steps to set up.

I use them both—-(just loaded Premiere 2.0 on my computer). I think that most full fledged NLE’s pretty much do the same things. The only major differences are the way they do them. I know that Vegas has a demo version you can download and I think Premiere does too. Why not play with them and then make your decision.

Okay—-first thing is to go to add/remove software and run the uninstall for Norton—The next thing is to go into the registry (back it up first) and type in the find box Norton—-then delete every entry left. That should do it—Then download either of AVG or AVAST and you are good to go. Make sure you backup your registry first (although if you just delete every Norton reference you should be okay)

I find that the use of resources while running Vegas often boils down to the project you are working on. I work on large projects—and thus, I tax the living hell out of my computer—-I find that when the resources are shutdown, it is less likely that I will get the dreded freeze. If you are editing a short piece, I guess it isn’t as important. By the way, AVG is another good one–Again, there is no rational reason, in this day and age, for anyone to use Norton Anti-Virus.

First of all, Norton is a resource hog and most people I know don’t use it. If you do use it, when you edit, turn it off. If you want a free alternative that eats up fewer resources and is trouble free, check out AVAST Free edition or AVG—-(you should still turn them off when you are working in Vegas)

For starters, you might look through all the back issues of Ed Troxels newsletters—They are free and very informative.
