Thank you for your reply Bartek, as I said (albeit badly) I’m aware that subclips don’t generate new files. When copying a subclip into AE, the parent file doesn’t appear in the project window – only the subclip, however, when it says that the file is missing it’s looking for the parent file, even if I manually add the parent file to the project window it doesn’t recognise. I need some way for AE to recognise the subclips are from the parent file 🙁

Unfortunately it was to no avail anyway because the band didn’t really heed my advice and didn’t wear a) particularly bright clothes and b) certainly not single coloured.

Apologies. That should be DE-saturate all other colours except their tops.

I found the problem, it was vaguel similar to Chris’ problem in that the project had auto-detected the wrong clips. Thank you both

Hi Cenk,

Thanks for the advice, but I figured out what was wrong. I’d forgotten there was a tiny piece of recorded footage at the end that didn’t make use of the radio mic and was properly recorded in stereo, therefore the clip made use of both stereo and mono and therefore couldn’t be changed. I just did some selective capturing to remedy the situation. Thanks again.

Hello Patrick,
Thanks for replying. Apologies for delay – I’ve been on holiday.
Thank you for your advice and I’ll certainly look into the effects you’ve suggested. However, I don’t suppose you know any tutorials or examples of what you’ve suggested do you? I’m relatively new to AE and self-taught, and got completely lost when you mentioned lightning track mattes and things. I’ll get there eventually but just wondered if you had any visual examples?

If not, thank you anyway. I’m off to experiment!
