Yes, using nests is just the way Premiere works. And yes, in 5.5 they do make exporting to XML hell, if not impossible. I have had to reedit videos. Adobe claims to have improved XML export, so perhaps they have made XMLs work on the export. I would do a simple test – make a quick multicam edit, then export to XML, then re-import it back and see what you get.

    Bret –

Agree that your audio meters and image resizing thing may be a hardware issue. Obviously certain cards are unsupported for a reason.

Audio scrubbing can be turned off in Preferences>Audio.

I suppose Adobe just thought that if you’re clicking elsewhere in the timeline you may want to stop. Agreed it might be cool to keep playing even then, but the “never stop playing” does stop when you reposition the playhead.

  • Steven –

I have been playing around with this audio issue, and I have found that when I decrease the volume a bit of channels in the audio mixer that my audio drops out less, possibly related to this “mute clipped audio” feature that I don’t know where to turn off. This might be a placebo, though.

Do you have one track with really loud audio?

  • Bummer man, I am out of ideas.

Yes, you can grab a single sequence on import.

It seems, though, that it would be efficient to also be able to export a single sequence into a new project, so that when you’re sharing files you’re dealing with much smaller project sizes. Also, when importing, loading a large project (100mb+) into a new project takes a lot of time (4-5 mins on larger projects) for the dynamic link dialogue box to parse through the project and ask you what sequence you want. This waiting could be eliminated if I could just export one sequence into a new project and important that entire project.

  • Have you tried outputting and seeing if the outputted file is similarly hazy?

  • That’s interesting. I’ve never heard of that. Where is it located?

I haven’t found a way. Annoying to say the least.

  • Over what protocall (USB, FW800, etc) is there a raid involved, and what soeed are the drives?

Also, where are your media cache files setup to be stored!?

  • What drive are you playing these files off of? Are they on the same drive? What compression is the Scarlet footage?
