Are you using a plugin?
I’ve gotten really good results from AE’s Warp Stabilizer (standard in AE CS5.5 and up, if I remember correctly). I think that’s in PPro CS6 now as well…but I’ve only used it inside of AE.

FCP7 is a 32bit app and can only take advantage of 4GB of RAM. The additional RAM will help if you have other apps open at the same time (Mail, Safari, Motion, After Effects, etc.). But as far as FCP is concerned it can only utilize 4GB.
As for your problem my first idea is how full is the hard drive where the media resides? More than half full can result in dropped frames. Secondly, how is the drive connected (internal, Firewire, USB, eSata)? Finally, is the hard drive part of a RAID enclosure or is it just a stand alone drive. While ProRes(LT) is a small data rate codec, the best way to handle any video is with a RAID setup. It guarantees the best read/write speeds compared to a single drive.

Looks like you’re exporting out a HDV sequence. HDV has a different PAR (pixel aspect ratio) then 1920×1080 HD and different from 720×576 PAL. That’s probably why your stuff is looking stretched. The PAR is wrong, given that you setup your timeline as a HDV sequence.
I would recommend transcoding your footage to one common format. Either 1080HD or DVPAL depending on your output and needs.
Other options:
— Change your timeline settings to a standard 1920×1080, square pixel aspect. This will require you to readjust the HDV and PAL clips on your timeline (possibly scale them to fit).
— Change your export settings to do the conversion to 1080HDRyan Holmes

You can use the Canon XF Utility stand alone app (not the FCP plugin). It’s a crappy app but it rewraps the media into a standalone MXF file (which can then be transcoded into ProRes or whatever you need).
Or you can use Adobe CS6 – Prelude and Adobe Media Encoder read the format natively and can rewrap it. You can download the 30 day trial to test it out.

What I’m saying is that you’re dealing with a math equation here. To fill up your DVD with a 30 minute show means that you would need to run a data rate of about 18Mbps. That’s double the allowable standard of a SD-DVD. Just use any bandwidth to filesize calculator to figure out your data rate vs. file size: https://web.forret.com/tools/filesize.asp?speed=7&unit=Mbps&dur=1800
As I’ve understood your post that’s what I see you asking. How do I fill up my 4.6GB DVD with a 30 minute video file. Answer: you don’t. You can run it at 9Mbps which will generate a roughly 2GB file, and fill up half the DVD. If your question was: is there an automatic setting that fills out the disc. Then I would say let DVD Studio Pro encode it and it can pick the best settings to maximize disc space. But it’s not going to fill up the disc as you say.
