Well yes I’m splitting hairs, on the timeline the media is a clip but to a compositor it’s a plate. Yet the question is not a frivolous one, the question leads to the intent of the edit. I imagine it is to shorten the time the image is displayed. Would it help to know that the default duration of importing a still image can be changed. Perhaps with a few mouse clicks all the images can be added to the timeline at a desired length. If so look under preferences, editing halfway down is the setting for new still image length (seconds, Also at the bottom is a checkbox “Automatically crop still images added to the timeline”. If that is not what you seek let me know.

Confusing, is it an image or clip?

In short, the answer is yes and no. Vegas does have a very robust audio support, after all Vegas Video was born from Sonic Foundry Acid Which is an audio application. Marketing is the issue, Video will only have the most basic of plug ins to do the basic job of cleaning audio. There are hundreds of Pug ins on the market but I doubt you will find one that will remove the offending sounds automatically.
I brought your sample into SpectraLayers just to have a look. Yes the clicks can be removed but from the length of the sample it’s difficult to tell what is not suppose to be in the file. Some sound could be music in the background but to my ears they sound more like a cpu switching issue as if the recorder was taxed during the recording for some reason. Again I have no idea as to the recording system but it sounds taxed or overloaded.
I would much like to see the entire file as to ascertain the degree of work needed to clean it up and determine if it’s worth the effort for it will undoubtedly take days if not weeks.
Just to be clear, I’m not volunteering for the task but I will help you to make a decision as to weather to continue or drop the project.

Mateusz,
I did not wish to chime in this conversation at first because I do not have Win 10, hell I refuse to move from Win7. That made clear, I relate my experience with Vegas 13. As usual I waited till the last minute to do and upgrade from Veg 12 avoiding the plethora of bugs from new releases. Veg 13 opened up great all the plugs are there and everything works until it’s time to render. Problem is the rendering template is empty, hangs for a few seconds and then Vegas crashes. Also I have noticed various frames, panels, windows whatever you wish to call them are not installed. After several weeks of a support ticket submission, Vegas support got back to me with an extensive list of things to do. In short it’s the old windows permissions problem. Basically uninstall Vegas root through the registry and remove certain entries, create new user account and install Vegas from there and all should work fine. So Vegas support says. I don’t have time to fiddle around with this but I did instal Vegas 13 on a cloned machine where it works just fine.
If you wish I can relay the support info to you but you will have to adjust for Win 10.And yes Mateusz, we are not paid to do this, we are simply paying it forward for help we’ve received from others in the past. Boy I miss those old TV broadcast fellows that used to peruse this forum. They has decades of experience spanning from the old and obscure up to the moment bleeding edge tech and systems. Debates raged on for months and never, no never did anyone suggest stupidity or some derogatory comment was made. No matter what the discussions, opinions held by others, there was always a respectful tone, that is until the weekend warriors showed up and the slurs began. So we lost access to all that knowledge and experience. So if there is an unsatisfactory answer, just smile politely, say thank you and move along to the next answer.

November 12, 2014 at 2:44 am in reply to: What is the best external recorder to use with a Z1-UHi, like John pointed out Vegas does not play well with anything Qucktime has to interpret for Vegas on a large scale because Apple won’t allow licencing of the 64 bit version for the windows platform, it’s as simple as that. Please note that todays NLE are 64 bit based only as to allow more access to ram, cuda cores and cpu. Vegas will get bogged down with a ton of mov files because of the 32 bit limitation of the Quicktime player. Conversely you might ask Microsoft why they have not found a way around the limitation, after all Windows media player does play many versions of the mov variant.
But there are other things to consider as well. For instance will an external recorder give you the results you are looking for. I played the external recorder game for a bit and have come to realise that although there was a slight improvement in color due to a more robust codec, generally there was no marked improvement in the image quality. It was not sharper or cleaner or brighter, all that was achieved was some forgiveness in the edit bay for color correction and matching up cameras. The Pro Res and Avid codecs are very similar, both are robust and can go up to uncompressed 444. The debate will rage on for ever but for me it’s simply a matter of workflow. Is it for Mac or PC. In short don’t be surprised if there is no difference to the naked eye.
Also consider the firewire out will be interlaced and I don’t recall if the ninja does a pulldown. The output from the firewire will be 8 bit so the ideal utopia of 4:2:2 @ 10 bit is unattainable negating the need for a more robust codec for the info is not being supplied by the camera. The best gain would be an 8 bit 4:2:2 over the cameras native codec of 8 bit 4:2:0.that’s a whole two pixels more of color and that just isn’t worth the money. Shop around for a disgruntled Pocket Cam owner buy it and share lenses with the GH3, now that might be an idea. As for me external recorders have their uses,I use them to extend recording time and instant editing but I’ve given up on the it will improve your camera carrot. All said and done the expenditure for an external recorder versus putting the doe towards new gear comes down to how long will the recorder be of use. A high end external recorder that might be good for 4k and beyond for future proofing and I’d say go for it but then you are looking at a different investment range. Think of it this way, it’s time to re tool and start planning a system that will see you through the next generation or two.
That would be my advice about the ninja. If absolutely set on an external recorder, get one the new cameras can attach to, At the very least get a Samurai or an Odyssey7Q and those are but the cheaper units. Build for the future, buy a Sony.

Looks like you are using a render template that has interlace turned on. Possibly you need to change that to progressive on both the project settings and the render template.

November 11, 2014 at 11:02 am in reply to: What is the best external recorder to use with a Z1-UUhm Ok so Vegas can’t edit Apple Pro Res but it does edit Avid DNxHD which the Ninja records. One needs to have the Codec installed that’s all. I use Blackmagic Cameras and Blackmagic Design has supplied the codec by installing Blackmagic Desktop Video. This is a free download and you need not have any Blackmagic hardware. Though I do not have Atomos products, I would expect Atomos to do the same. If not you can always instal the Blackmagic codec. Also you can transcode via Davinci Resolve lite, which is also free. Don’t let a little thing like a codec get in the way of your projects.

This sometimes works for me.There is a caveat in that you need Quicktime Pro installed. Open file in Quicktime, save as a reference movie, import into Vegas and edit.

I concur Vegas seems to get intoxicated on too much ram when encoding.
