By the great horn spoon, you are correct, there is no clear mention of permissions on the Avid download page concerning Vegas and commercial use.
Time to ask Avid.

Ok this discussion is really silly. Avid created this codec so as to avoid issues with Apple. So there would be a codec that Avid can use across win or Mac. In the early days of NLE Avid used to transcode everything into DNX allowing for a consistent user experience and allow for uniform workflow scaling and consistency in a production environment. It is in Avids best interest to distribute the codec far and wide and to encourage the use of the codec. The idea of Avid chasing you around for use of an unlicensed distribution is in a word ludacris. The intent of the licence is to prevent software creators from packaging the codec with their nle without paying royalties to the creators of the codec. These licences are not aimed at the end user of NLE software and you are free to use them for the software developer has made payment on your behalf.
My version of DNxHD is found in the .mov section and I have been using it as needed for some time. Also download and instal from blackmagic design a piece of software named Desktop video which is free to use as needed for BMD has paid for the licence. Once again you will find a codec named Blackmagic 10 bit, 8 bit and RGB 10 bit that is identical to Prores and will allow you to read Prores files once quicktime is installed. There really is no need to do a round trip to Resolve just to encode DNxHD or Prores unless there is need for speed for few render as quickly as Resolve can.

Mostly it’s about branding, about who you are. The ability to embed into your own player or website. Also with vimeo you have more control over where the video ends up. It is slightly more difficult to repost it or download it. For me mainly it is about the lack of advertisers on my site. And lastly, yes there is a difference in the video quality, I find Youtube pixelates my vids a whole lot more. Lastly I upload huge files then let vimeo encode them, when done I delete the original.Of coarse you need a pro or Corp account to do this.

Wow, that is one nasty sound up at around 22K, this is what it looks like in Spectral Layers
As you can see there is a very defined line across the top at around 22K. I know that Grazzie has helped you and done a very nice job of it so thank you Grazzie. My reason for responding is that I am curious as to how this happened to appear in the file. Again I understand it is a question to which you have no answer. To me it sound like a clock or time code generator. Very reminiscent of the old midi clocks used to synchronize sequencers and drum machines. This leads to the question as to which device is at fault. Now I have no idea as to how your audio is routed but it does sound like the camera clock is bleeding into an audio pre amp. I short it’s a ground loop. First I should ask if you are using a separate audio recorder. If so Per chance are both your audio recorder and camera powered from the same source.

Yes Grazzie you are quite correct png would be a better choice unless you need the extra info embedded in the tiff.
