Select all of the clips in the timeline, right click and select duration. Then type in the duration you want. This should work.

I haven’t used the MXO2, but I looked it up how the card mounts in their manual online. It works the same way as my eSATA card. Check out page 8 of the manual.
As I said, this isn’t a big deal, and it should work most of the time, but there is the possibility of needed to restart every so often to get it to mount properly.
So it’s less reliable than just mounting firewire drives, but probably not by much.

Also, you may need to power down the MXO2 before you unplug it. I haven’t used it, but I have a eSATA card that requires that. Sometimes, I have to restart to get it to work right.

If you don’t need dual-link HD-SDI in and out, then you might consider the AJA IOHD instead. The IOHD has just about every input that you would need, plus it can do a great up-convert to HD from SD sources.

I just want to add that I don’t know of a single company in any industry that has better support than AJA. My theory is that it’s not just the hardware you buy, but you buy into the company and their support. If you care about that type of stuff, AJA is a great fit!

[Alexander Kallas] “you can encode using MacDrive, which allows Windows to read
QT files created on your Mac. “Just to clarify. MacDrive allows Windows to read a Mac formatted drive. It doesn’t add additional QuickTime functionality to Windows, unless your files are on a Mac formatted drive.

On a MacBook Pro you could add Serial ATA (SATA) or another FW800 port using the Expresscard Slot. This would be on a different bus than the other Firewire ports.

Depending on your needs, you would buy one of these:

Right. In fact, both FW800 and FW400 share the same bus in the computer. Since the camera is only FW400, then it doesn’t help to speed it up on a faster bus.
Just for perspective, if you’re capturing DV footage, you’re only using about 3.6MB/sec of the 40MB/sec that FW400 is capable of. So FW400 is more than enough for that.
It really comes down more to disk speed and processor speed.
