step 1) – install Kona 3 card properly, along with FCP. Go home.

step 2) – have assistant drag Adobe After Effects Plug in’s from another corrupt drive onto this MAC’s boot drive.

step 3) – boot computer. See the “death curtain” where you must hold down the power button on the MAC (or unplug the MAC) to restart. Do it over and over again, with the same failure.

step 4) – boot up in SAFE MODE, and while holding knife at throat of assistant, have him identify the plug in’s that he installed. Drag them to the trash.

step 5 – reboot, have same problem (death curtain, where finder fails to launch, and you are told to hold down power button on MAC).

step 6 – remove AJA Kona 3 card. Boot up – EVERYTHING WORKS ! Gee, do you have a dead Kona 3 card ?

step 7 – reinstall the Kona 3 card, and boot up again – death curtain, you must have a dead Kona 3 card.

step 8 – uninstall Kona 3 card. boot up, uninstall Kona 3 drivers (with the AJA Kona uninstaller in the AJA Utilities folder).

step 9 – download drivers from AJA site, and REINSTALL AJA Kona 3 drivers. Reboot – everything looks ok.

step 10 – reinstall AJA Kona 3 card, boot up. GEE, EVERYTHING WORKS, THE KONA 3 CARD WAS NOT DEAD AFTER ALL.

    Damn After Effects plugins !!!!!!!

If they tried to drag those AE plug-in’s into FCP they should definitely get the knife to the throat treatment since they don’t work in FCP 6.

the knife was used to make him “remember” every last plugin that he installed. And guess what – it worked !
