A couple of quick things to check.

First, if you open a DV file in QuickTime, make sure that the “high quality video” box is checked under visual settings.

Also, in my opinion, coloring DV (4:1:1) video with the 3-way color corrector makes the video look manipulated. It just feels like it’s been played with. I’d suggest using Color as it deals with the colors in a much more natural way.

What footage are you using? Is it HD footage or SD? Also, how will you play it to the wide screen TV? SD DVD, Blu-ray, or a HD file based server (like an AppleTV or something)?

I reinstalled AJA drivers right before I took some time off work. When I got back I had this error. I should have known better.

I think you’d be happy with this workflow and it will maintain the quality better than if you choose to convert HDV to DVCPROHD or the other way around.

The Motion content that takes up all that space is located in:

Macintosh HD-Library-Application Support-Final Cut Studio-Motion

You can remove this whole folder. If you do, Motion will still open, but won’t have any of the fancy content in it.
