    Hello,

I will edit a doc in FCP with HDV and DVCPROHD footage of a Z1 and HVX200 cameras. I know it should be better to use a single codec but thats what I got from the client. So I would like some suggestions about camera setups (Z1 and HVX200), and how i should import the footage into FCP. So the questions are:

What are the best setups for the Z1 and the HVX200 footage to get along in FCP? 1080i? (I can talk with the crew at this point)

Should I convert everything to Prores and start working with that? Or Just the HDV to DVCPROHD? (It will be color corrected in Color)

My guess is, shot everything at 1080i and work with Prores, but I would like to be sure before start.

Thanks in advance, and sorry about any misspelling in English.

    Eduardo.

I think you’d be happy with this workflow and it will maintain the quality better than if you choose to convert HDV to DVCPROHD or the other way around.

Thanks Russel, I will do that. Is there any more catches with the camera setups or just tell the crew 1080i is good to go? (since I am not a cinematographer)

    thanks again,

    Eduardo

Be sure to decide on a frame rate and use the same one on both shoots. The DP will probably have the most input on this, but your delivery specs might call for a specific rate.

    Thanks John,

I will talk with the DP about the possibilities. The doc will be distributed in DVD.

    Thanks a lot folks,

    Eduardo
